Length of cycle ??

Since everyone here is so informed, I thought I would throw this out there.  I have thought this all along, but I was just wondering what you all think.  Maybe it will help someone else as well...

Back in the day (about 15 years ago) after 2 successful pregnancies, I then had secondary infertility.  I temped and charted, and my cycle was 24 days on the nose every time.  I even took my charts to my GP at that time and asked her about it, and she assured me that as long as they were so regular the short cycle length should not be a prob to get PG.  Now I am wondering if a 24 day cycle was maybe too short, that AF would already come before implant.  What do you girls think?  Could that be the case?and then also the cause of my infertility?  If so, would progesterone suppositories from OV to AF been all I needed to carry a PG?

Thanks!

I just find it so interesting now reading stuff on this forum how much more we know.  It was 15 years ago and now I have already been thru menopause, so no luck for me, but it seems my daughter may be heading in my direction and we were talking about it today and I thought i would throw it out there.  Amazing how much more we know in 15 years than we did then.

Thanks girls

I will be starting Clomid in March due to how short my luteal phase is 9-11 days (o to af).  They may also do progesterone to lengthen it as well.  Without the proper luteal phase you can have a fertilized egg that doesn't get the chance to "stick".  U definitely need more information/second opinion/see a reproductive endocrinologist.

How long is your LP (luteal phase)?  If it's below 12 days then shorter cycles may be a problem.  Also, I heard someone mention on this forum that if you O too early you may be releasing the egg that's not yet mature.  So, it's not the length of your cycle that's important but rather the timing of ovulation.  If you O in the middle you are OK and your LP should be around 12 days.  Otherwise, your LP may be too short or you O too early.

I hope this helps....

It depends on when in your cycle you ovulated. If you ovulated on let's say day 12, and then had a 12-day luteal phase, that would have been fine. BUT if you ovulated on day 15 or later, then yes, you did in fact have a luteal phase defect, which can make implantation difficult. They say, your luteal phase (after ovulation) need to be at least 10 days... preferably 12.

More tests should have been done.  It could be okay, it could be too short, indicating a luteal phase defect.  I had a 25 day cycle and LPD.  You may have needed more than progesterone, but there are things that could have been tried.  But 15 years ago, I don't know what the knowledge was at that time regarding treatment.
