I think they did IUI too soon

So I did my trigger Tuesday at 4:00 pm and the RE had me to go in yesterday (Wednesday) for an IUI at 9:30 am, the IUI went really well and They were able to put in 42 million sperm....which was so much a miracle because 6mths ago DH count was only 17 million.  Well they called yesterday afternoon and said my progesterone was only 0.8 and that I had not ovulated yet.  They want me to come in tomorrow (Friday) and have another one.  Do you think yesterday was a waste?  I know the sperm will live in the body for up to 72 hrs.  I am just so nervous now.  Let me know what you think.

I don't think i was ovulating at the time of my trigger shot followed by the next 2 days of IUI"S (per the OPK).  to my understanding the trigger shot is supposed to release the egg to meet the sperm allready there,   but this has been unsuccessful for me now twice and I am on my third round of this clomid with trigger and 2 IUI's.  I feel the same as you, that they are doing this to early,  in my cd I think i ovulate cd 16 or 17.  Husband and I just have sex more after the IUI's for a few more days too cover the window!!   Who knows I thought the first time was going to bring a BFP and was dissapointed, then the 2nd try was an even bigger dissapointment.  This will be my final trial.  BEST od LUCK to you keep us posted   fit4fun

I had my IUI only 12 hours after the trigger, with no second IUI and we just bd'd the night of the IUI.  I didn't get O pains until I think it was either the night of the IUI or the night after.  I ended up getting a BFP so it's very possible even without a second IUI and mine was even sooner after the trigger.  My RE does it that quickly on purpose because they want the sperm to be there waiting when the egg is released.

GOOD LUCK TO YOU!

From what i have been told...washed sperms have lesser life...they live only 8-16 hrs :( ...naturally ejaculated sperms live for 2-3 days...so i would definitely go for a second IUI...but have them do a US first to see where the follis are and how does the CM look. Also why didn't they give u a trigger shot?? or did they?

You need to do a second IUI.  Like Stacey said, it is possible for the sperm to live, but you will have a better chance to do a second one.

I'm sure it is possible that some of the sperm from your first one will survive but it's good they are doing the second IUI!
Good luck
