HSG and trying to get pregnant

I had an HSG done yesterday (CD9) and was wondering if it was safe to try and get pregnant this month. Usually I ovulate around CD22 so figured that should be sufficient time for any residual dye to have left the uterus and tubes. My doctor said that I should definitely try this month as our chances are greatly increased. However one of the nurses at the hospital where I had the HSG done mentioned to me that some radiologists recommend to rest for the whole cycle due to any potential damage to the developing follicle. I wanted another opinion before going ahead and trying. Thanks very much!

Never heard of waiting after HSG.  Like babyalive said, you should give it your best this month.  Good luck!

I was told to not try before the HSG because the procedure could push a follicle into the stomach or back into the ovaries.  I'm pretty sure it's fine after.

Thanks so much for your reply - makes me feel much better! I am not sure why the nurse mentioned that. Perhaps they need to for legal reasons just in case? Anyway, I am going to speak to my Dr again just to double check but am pretty sure we will give this month a shot! Good luck with your IUI!

I've never heard about the resting for a cycle period.  I've only heard of women getting pregnant days after the HSG.  My dr. ordered my HSG on cd 10 and my IUI on cd 14, so only 4 days between.  I'm not sure what that nurse is talking about.  I would defintely call your dr. and see what he/she has to say.  I hope this works for you!
