Trying to Conceive and taking Metronidazole

I’m currently taking Metronidazole for bacterial vaginosis. Will it stop my chances of conceiving this cycle? Is it safe to try to get pregnant while taking it?

So, you are treating BV.  That means that your vaginal microbe environment is likely a bit off right now.  Between the bacteria as it is eradicated and the changes the antibiotic makes, things are shifting in the environment. Does this make it harder to conceive at the same time? For some women, it does.  Hi there.    The medication likely doesn't do a whole lot to hinder or aid getting pregnant.  But having BV can make it harder.  And the changing environment during treatment isn't particularly conducive to getting pregnant.  But one thing I know is that there aren't any absolutes. Women get pregnant all the time when you wouldn't guess they would and others who do everything perfectly may have trouble.  how long have you been TTC?

I am being treated for BV. I have been ttc for 2 months now. I’ve had positive ovulation tests on the day before my ovulations, and had intercourse around ovulation, but nothing has happened. I recently started taking Geritol and Prenatal Vitamins because I have heard a lot of women who were trying for a long time Lucked up and conceived after taking those things.

Think it was probably coincidence.  So you are expecting?  When are you due??

I’m not expecting yet. I was hoping to try again this cycle. I’m supposed to ovulate Sunday

Oh, okay.  I know it took me a while to conceive.  It was a little bit of a roller coaster.  My doctor is pretty firm that a woman who wants to conceive should track their cycle and on cycle day 10 (cycle day 1 is the first day of their period) they begin having intercourse every other day for the next 10 days.  Best way to catch the egg.
