What time of day to test ovulation?

Just wondering if anyone has found a certain time of day better to test for ovulation?  I have a Clearblue digital ovulation kit, which says you can test first thing in the morning.  However I have read that it is better to test after 2pm to detect the LH surge.

The only downside to this is that the instructions state that 'To make sure that the hormone level in your urine is concentrated enough for the test to detect, it’s important not to urinate for at least 4 hours before doing the test' -  which is why I am now trying to distract myself as I have been needing to 'GO' for the last hour and have at least another 45 mins to go!!

If the time of day really doesn't make any difference PLEASE let me know and I will do my testing first thing as I'm losing circulation in my feet from having my legs crossed so much!! :D

It taeks LH at least 4 hours to metabolize in the urine after waking to give a correct result. I woke at 6 and waited two hours to drink anything before and took it at 10:00 then if you ahve a fast surge you can miss it and sometimes if I thought it was about to be dark I took it again at 8:00pm, per RE instructions. When you get that positive then stop checkin. The egg will live for only 12 hours and the egg can release anywhere from 0-24 hours after you test. Your basal temp will go up .5 degrees above coverline to say for sure you have O'd.

10_07 you put second day urine??? what does this mean?

My RE's protocol is to use the 2nd day urine, and to test between 10am and 2pm.

Thanks amyj77 on the next cycle will try that 10am seems a lot more 'do-able' than 2pm!

They say there is a window. But I tested usually around 10 a.m., sometimes the first urine, sometimes the second. I came up positive and I double checked during the day...but my surge seems to go away by 2 or 3 p.m. A lot of surges happen at night for me...everyone is different. I think they normally say between 10 and 5.
