Thanks for the information! My cycle is very regular, I start my period on the same day of the week every month. I start the sugar pill on Sunday and my period starts every Wednesday without a hitch.
I know that I was ovluating on the 26th because I've been tracking my cycle and symptoms.
Every woman's body takes to birth control differently. When some get pregnant by simply forgetting to take the pill at the same time each day, some (like me) could forget it for three days and still be fine. I'm pretty sure (based on the information given to me by the very helpful ladies here) it took about three months to get the pill out of my system. Then again, I've known women who got pregnant while on BC because they missed one pill. It just depends on how well your body adapted to the hormone change. Did you ever miss a pill? If so, did you have breakthrough bleeding? Did your periods start the same day you started taking the sugar pills? This can be an indication that your body is very sensitive to hormone changes and almost resists the pill for it's own cycle. If this is the case, the pill should be out of your system quickly.
How did you know that you ovulated on the 26th? Different prediction methods could produce false results. As the women in this forum know very well, just because you should have ovulated on a certain date... and even if your body makes preparations to do so... doesn't mean you did.
you could be pregnnant if you stop your birth control pill before ovulation... usually the best to conceive is at least couple cycles after the pill... let it all out your system first..
good luck to you
