Will an ear thermometer work for temping?

Hi! I stopped temping awhile ago for two reasons - 1) to ease my stress about ttc and 2) in the winter, I sleep with my mouth open and everything is so dry and icky that I didn't think I could get accurate results!

Does anyone know if the ear thermometer will work?

I was told you can take it orally or vaginally. Just as long as you don't change the way during the cycle. Hope this helps.

Does it read in whole degrees, tenths or hundredths?  I think the 'basal' thermometers go to the hundredth - I used a thermometer that went to the tenth and it worked fine.  My temps however were all over the place!  I agree with the other ladies- if you're consistent it'll get you the desired objective.  Esp if you sleep with your mouth open - that would complicate taking your temp orally.  Good luck!

You could certainly try the ear thermometer.  I think in general ear thermometers are not considered as accurate.  So I would say on a line from most inaccurate, to most accurate would be temping with ear thermometer, temping by mouth, and then temping vaginally.  So yeah, an ear thermometer might just work for you, but it also may give you a more irregular looking chart.  I'd be curious to know how it works out!  Good luck!

I agree, as long as it's the same way every time, it should work just fine! :) I quit temping this month, and honestly, I think i'm done with it. I never thought it stressed me out while temping, but now I realize that it did b/c I feel so much less stressed that i'm not doing it. It's in the 2ww of temping that drives my anxiety, and I'm about sick of that! :)

I don't know for sure, but I would think as long as  you took it the same way every time, it would work.
