hcg and implantation

When I had ivf in NYC they gave me an hcg shot immediately after the transfer.
I have read recently by Gary Null's article on Vaccination in Africa that hcg peptides are used in immunization to prevent pregnancy in women of child-bearing age.  He said that the abundance of hcg can prevent the women's natural production of the hormone.

Does any one know if the trigger shots can prevent implantation or help it?   I have heard it both ways, and since the ovidrel is also a form of hcg, are we donig ourselves any favors by using them?

Trigger shot is only given before retrieval so the follicles mature. Are you sure you got it after the transfer. It make no sense!!!

hcg can help your body to produce progesterone, so some protocols involve a second shot to increase progesterone production.

hi .. with my last fresh round of IVF, I had the hcg shot before retrieval as normal but then I had one the day before the transfer too .. this was instead of having the crinone cream,  I was supposed to have another shot a few days post transfer but when I had my blood test a few days later to check my progesterone level, they phoned me to say not to do another shot, that my progesterone level was too high and to switch onto crinone.

They said that my body may have already been producing hcg (it turned out to be a BFP) and progesterone on it's own, and that the hcg shot wouldn't stop that from happening but they didn't want the level to be that high at that stage.

If you are having shots, you should also be having a blood test before your beta to check your levels
