anyone else experiencing secondary infertility?

hello.  i'm new on here and don't know all the abbreviations etc. so bare with me!

so i've been ttc #2 for about 15 months.  my DS was conceived while i was on BCP just after DH and i got married.  i never in a million years would have guessed i'd have issues ttc more children!  i went to the RE and got all the testing done just to find out that everything is normal with both DH and i.  ugh...i was hoping for an answer!  one thing that i think is rather strange that neither my PCP or my RE could explain is that ever since i had DS i've weighed 15 lbs less than i did my whole life.  no matter what i do i cannot put the weight back on and when i workout i drop even more weight.  i nursed DS for a year and thought i just lost the baby weight fast b/c of nursing but when i stopped i never put weight back on.  i know some of you would say be thankful for being 15 lbs less but i'm 5'7 and weighing in at a whopping 108 lbs.  i eat over 2500 calories a day...some healthy and nutritious, some not so much.  hehe.  my thyroid tests were normal.

has this happened to anyone else?  in my mind i swear this is the reason i can't conceive.  i started my first cycle of clomid today...hoping this works!

thanks!

you sound EXACTLY like me!  no issues conceiving the first but now no luck with another.   sounds like i'm only a few months ahead of you on everything...getting married, baby, and now no baby.  :(  i too never went on BC after i had my DS so i really have more than 15 mo. of trying under my belt.  my doc wanted me to do the clomid with the trigger and then IUI but this first month i figured i would just try the clomid alone.  my insurance doesn't cover any of the fertility treatments...only the testing.  clomid alone is much cheaper so i thought i'd give it a whirl the first month i'm on it.  i'm keeping my fingers crossed!  although just found out my DH has to leave for work next monday!  that's probably when i'll be o'ing!  i already told him i'll be driving the 6 hrs to come see him for some BDing!!  haha.  i DO NOT want to miss it!  we are super frustrated too...best of luck to you.

we are TTC #2 as well.
got married in 2005, went off BCP and was preg a few months later (2nd mo actually trying).  Since DD was born in may 2006 - we decided no BC and we would see what happened.  After a year of no BFP = GYN put me on clomid.  done countless months of it - did 1 IUI with clomid+ trigger - and BFN!  DH's SA came back fine.  My HC G was normal too.  Clomid DID help my cycle back on track - but i want a BFP!  i am so frustrated and so is DH!!!

I hate that we go through this, but i am so glad there are others like me!!! I had dd (almost 4), with no problems.  Tried for a year on our own for #2, no luck.  Nothing obviously wrong, except poor post coital test.  Failed 3 clomid IUIs, and chemical pregnancy with IVF#1, and not I believe failed FET!!!! I am so beyond frustrated. Out of money.  And still no real reason why I don't have another baby!!!! and EVERYONE i know is pregnant!!! AAAHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I understand all your pain.  I hope all of us get our wish/ answers soon!!!

absolutely!  i find that it consumes me at times too.  every month i get AF i get in such a bad mood.  i try not to get my hopes up and tell myself i'm not thinking that just maybe i'm prego this month but of course i do and then...there she is.  wonderful.  a lot of my friends are now either pregnant with or have had their second one by now and it's so frustrating b/c we were hoping to be pregnant well before any of them even thought about having a second.  i know that sounds childish but you really can't help to be a little envious of them!  i am truly happy for them...don't get me wrong.  ANSWERS that's all we want...right?  at least that may ease our minds a little bit anyway...

I'm so glad to see some one post about secondary infertility!  We too have been struggling to conceive again.  Our DS is 3 and it took us 5 years to conceive him and I guess I assumed it would be easier the second time since everything went so smoothly the first time.  We had two miscarriages last year which the doc is saying was probably from low progesterone.  I too lost 30lbs off of my pre-pregnancy weight about a year after having DS, and breastfeed for 7 months.  It's so frustrating to not be able to welcome another child and I hate to let it consume be but sometimes it does.  I hope we can all get some answers soon and go on to have a wonderful pregnancy.

hey girls...thanks.  yeah they did bloodwork.  i actually had my primary doctor and the RE both do bloodwork b/c i thought one or the other might have missed something.  both said everything was fine.  i actually have never been on any sort of BC after i had DS so really it could be over 2 yrs i've been having issues.  15 mo. ago is just when AF finally came back after having DS.  i was waiting forever for AF so we could really start trying.  anyways...i'm super frustrated and if another person tells me DS needs a sibling i think i'm gonna freak!  ;)  haha.

housewife28 best of luck with your second round.  jenandjon to you guys too!

I had no problem conceiving my DD but when wanted TTC #2 went off BC and found cycle completely messed up, finally got BFP at 9 mo and then m/c.  Found great info on supplementing with VitB6 and didn't have time to see if my cycle corrected, because I am now pregnant with #2 and doing well.
Sounds like you should look into some B6!  Just my opinion.
Good Luck!!!

I'm in the same boat too.  My son was conceived on the first try and now we've been trying for #2 for 13 months.  All my tests came back normal, except that my cycles have been wacky for the last year when they used to be like clockwork. Also I developed eczema right when my cycles got irregular and feel like there is a link even though no doctors think they're related.   I nursed for 8 months and have wondered too if that just changed my system somehow.

I did Clomid a few months ago and had a miscarriage on the first round and am currently trying a second round.

Good luck!
