My DH has the same diagnosis, although his is so severe it cannot be improved.  We extracted sperm and froze it and have used it for the last 2 ivfs-both unsuccessful and are going to thaw some more for the #3 coming up in Feb.  Is your husband's FSH really high?  If so this is harder to treat.  If he is azoospermic due to blockage then this is much easier to remove with TESE, but harder to do anything that will help natural conception.  It is a frustrating situation.  Sorry you are going through this.  We have had a "back-up" donor each time just in case the sperm did not thaw and we asked to not be told if they had to use a donor.

It is ok. We have dealt with it. We will always be sad that we will never have a bio child together, but we will have a baby. That is all that matters now.

No problem...  I'll send my baby dust to ya!!!  Can't use it anymore, so have some!

And I won't say, "relax" 'cause that's just like spitting into the wind.  :)

If you want any more info, just holler.
Oh, and hunny went with me to all my IUIs.  We figured it was OUR baby, regardless of how she was conceived, so we should both be present at the conception.  OB just loves my hubby and always asks about him when he's not with me.  Of course, there is no reason to be with me on the standard appt now.

Hey! no we never did acupuncture. There wasn't any sperm/sperm cells for us to do IVF/ICSI...

Just in case you guys decide or need to go donor route...
My husband and I both didn't think it was for us. But as time went on, and everyone has a baby or is PG we realized we wanted to be parents more then anything. I came around to the idea before him. But I told him, that if he totally wasnt 150% sure that we shouldn't do it. I married him to be with him and if we can't have a baby we will deal with it together. Needless to say, he is ready. We both are.
I hope your next IVF works. I know how heartbreaking it can be for you both.

Sorry, that was really unclear, I apologize....

He started taking the vitamins just after we found out he was azoo....  We used his sperm in 3 IUIs (even with very low counts) right after that.  Then we switched to donor sperm, but still kept up trying for ourselves.

Timeline went like this...

March '02 started taking vitamins

IUI in June '02 with his sperm (miscarried...sperm count was still basically 0)

IUI in January '03 and February '03 with his sperm (count still really low, but some improvement noted on labs, they changed his diagnosis to oogliospermia (sp??))

Chose donor
3 IUI tries with donor A that summer ('03)

Chose another donor
1 IUI try with donor B that fall ('03)

break for a surgery on me and Christmas holidays
Final IUI in January '04 (with Follistim and donor B)

We had sex the night before the IUI and again the night of the IUI.  Kathryn looks a whole lot like him, so we *think* that his sperm won the race to inseminate.

He was retested the next summer (~June 05) and his counts were normal, low but normal.

Lauren was conceived in July '05 and is a product of just him.  So much for azoo.....!!!!!!

Hope that's a better explanation.  Basically we tried EVERYTHING.

Try this, it falls under the "might help, can't hurt" philosophy.  My husband was originally diagnosed with azoo.... and started taking Zinc (75 mg), Selenium (200 mg) and L-Arginine along with L-Carnitine (although I'm not sure this one was a key).  You know that sperm takes 3 months to generate, so three months after taking this, retest.  My husbands count went to none, but maybe one or two, to getting pregnant with Lauren 15 months after Kathryn was born.  Sperm test inbetween had him listed as low, but normal.  Kathryn's genesis was aided by donor sperm.  He started taking vits about 6 months or so before we got pregnant with Kathryn.

Donor sperm is also an alternative to look into.  Very hard decision for the men, but they need to realize however a child gets here, it is their child.  And as we did it, you will never know which sperm won the fight.

Best of luck!

you are very lucky that they found sperm!!! My husband has the same issue. Is money an issue? Does your insurance cover any IVF? Is there any more sperm to use for ICSI?
I dont know how you and hubby feel about it, but you could always use a donor and do an IUI...so much cheaper and much less complicated. That is what my husband and have to do.
