first cycle of injectibles and IUI--any suggestions?

I just had my initial appointment (CD3) this morning and had an u/s and bloodwork.  I am starting Follistim injections tonight!

The doctor said that he is going to start me on a very low dose of follistim because my ovaries looked like they might respond very quickly to the medication.  He didnt want me growing too many follicles because if I did, we'd have to cancel my IUI for the month.

So, tonight I'm taking a dose of 75, then the next 2 nights I'll take 50.  Then, I'll see him again on Friday for another u/s.

Does anyone have any experience with this?  What could it mean that my ovaires look like they might respond quickly?  I hope things go well for me!

This is a total guess, but I;m wondering if your doctor said it looked like you'll respond well because there were a lot of antral follicles present. Not sure, though...

Best of luck this cycle!

I am on my first round of injectibles + IUI too.  Today is my CD 6, day 3 of Inj.  I am on 150 IU of Menopur 1x day.  I will be going in on Thursday to 1st ultrasound and follow up bloodwork. Let me know how your cycle is going.. I would be really interested, since we are almost on the exact same schedule!!

My first couple of cycles (on 50mg and 100mg) of clomid I had 3 and 4 follicles develop.  But, as the dosage increased, the number of follicles decreased!

I think my body just got "used" to clomid and it wasnt effective anymore.  My last 2 cycles of 150mg developed only 1 follicle each cycle!

I'm only 28 and I have had a child before and also just had a chemical pregnancy, so maybe that's why he's starting me on a lower dose--because he knows my ovaries work somewhat!

I just gave myself the injection and it was effortless and painless.  I'm just worried about my husband giving me the HCG injection!  Ouch!

never heard that  by looking at your ovaires can determine how good/quick the response to the med. normally the RE decide the dose on your age, your FSH or ypur pervious experience with the med. I did one injectable with 75 unit but the cycle was canceled due to a growing cyst. they put me on 75 because I response very well to Clomid.
Best of luck on your cycle!!
