confused

I have been on clomid and had a shot of novarel on 3/14/11.  My breasts have been tender and I have felt nautious so I took a pregnancy test.  It came back positive yesterday and my husband wanted to be sure so I took a digital test last night and it came back negative.  i took another digital test this morning and it was positve.  Do you think I am pregnant or could it just be from the medication?  I thought that if the medication would have an effect would it have tested positive last night also but it did not.  I do not want to get my hopes up but it really feels like I am pregnant.  What do you think?

Any trigger containing HCG will give you a false positive.  The suggestion is to wait at least 14 days after your trigger to ensure that it is completely out of your system.  5000 units of HCG usually takes approximately 5-10 days alone to leave your system, and it will cause pregnancy symptoms.  Welcome to what we all call the 2ww (2 week wait).  It's a torturous 2 weeks, and we all hate it, but are so happy when we know we have ovulated and get to that point.  Be patient!!  Best wishes and SSBD to you!!!

funny, I'v also taken my shot on the same day ..

when u take this shot ur body "thinks" ur pregnant but after two days ur probably still ovulating and no pregnancy if occurred can actually show at this time..take it easy and try testing in a week or so to check if the shot has worn out..after that u can test again to c if u get the REAL positive..

Good luck!

Novarel contains HCG and that is what your tests could be picking up since you have tested so close to having this shot.

When I get a shot of Ovidrel as my trigger and then have the IUI 2 days later, I do not test until about 7 to 8 days out to check to make sure the HCG is gone so when I test again closer to the day of my expected period, I know the results are not being influenced by my shot of HCG.

Anyway, this is my guess but a beta blood test would be the more accurate.
