Hi ladies,

Thanks for our input on the hpts.  I didn't use one for our first cycle, and then I did for our second.  I found that learning that I wasn't pregnant prior to the blood test helped prepare me for 'the phone call."  I've been at work when I receive the news and in a cube environment, I don't want to start bawling...I don't care what people say, it's NOT ok to cry in the workplace, esp. if you're a woman.  Unfortunately I don't think that stereotype is behind us.

My beta is scheduled for 03/14.  I'm desperately trying not to focus on it and stress myself out, but damn is it hard!

allgood427-I'm thinking and praying for you that all is well and you get great news on Thursday.

Now my next question (thank you veterans of this)-other than the spotting, are there other potential signs of implantation?  I know everyone's different and it could be the meds, but any insight would be appreciated!

Thanks!

I can't tell you I wouldn't do the HPT's again next time around, but I started 8dp3dt and got a BFN for 6 days until the morning of my BT on 2.24.10 and it was super light that day.  I had to wake my DH up to make sure my eyes weren't playing tricks on me!  So, I freaked myself out for a week thinking that it didn't work and it did.  My beta is super low though and we're still hoping and praying that it goes up...it's slowly but surely rising and we go next Thursday for another test/ultrasound.  By then, we should know more about if it's a viable pregnancy.

But, I just wanted to share my experience with the HPT's.  I started taking them b/c some other women on this forum had BFP's that early after transfer so I really think it's unique to each and every one of us.  I completely understand wanted to be prepared before your BT, but I would encourage waiting until at least 2 days before just so that you don't work yourself up for nothing.  I made myself crazy during that week and it can't be good for the babies.

Good luck and lots of babydust to you!  I know these next 2 weeks will be tough, but have faith and pamper yourself!  You've earned it!

So your beta is around March 12 or so right?

WAIT!!!!!! I personaly hate hpt but I understand the urge to know. I rather know for real than cry/get excited for no reason. But if you must do it, do it two days before your beta:)

It is amazing what we come up with and what we worry about.  I keep thinking, "What if it doesn't work this time?"  and "What does that mean?  Why can't I get pregnant?"  over and over again.  Most of the time I have to stop myself.  What's the most frustrating and difficult to comprehend is that it isn't an exact science, as you mention with the thaw of the embies.  You won't know until you're at that stage.

My best advice (if you want it) is to literally take it one step at a time.  At times I get so overwhelmed that I have to take it one minute at a time, literally.

Right now I'm ridiculously hormonal, crying at the most stupid of things.

I have a question for all of the ladies-when should I take a hpt?  Keep in mind that I shouldn't get a false positive because the frozen cycle doesn't have an HCG shot in it.
Any thoughts?  I've ready among posts that some women start seeing a faint positive line that gets darker and darker.

The docs told me to wait until my bloodwork because I may get a false negative.

Anyone have any thoughts?

I know what you mean about the thawing thing.  I was sooo suprised/shocked when this time the embies only had 2 cells, and one was looking fragmented.  The first round, they were beautiful!  They were perfect in every way.... even the Doc said they were "perfect for pregnancy"... and they were, my body just wasn't ready for them.  Now, I'm kinda afraid to have the next "batch" thawed.  What will they look like?  Will they be beautiful like the first set, or not so much like the second set?  It's amazing what we can make ourselves worry about isn't it?

You ladies are awesome!  I really needed those words of encouragement.  We had 2 frozen from our first cycle.  What gets frustrating is that the doctors tell you one thing and then an 'exception' pops up.  In this instance, I had asked in advance, what happens if the embryos don't thaw well.  He said that during the thaw, it's hard to tell what shape they're 'really' in, so they implant anyway...However, yesterday I was told that one was definitely not viable.  There's unfortunately a lot of that going on during this process.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that twins are in God's plan for you-I know just how you feel.  I was even more selfish and wanted the 'perfect' combo-a boy and a girl, so that we could be 'done.'  I've since realized that I have to be patient and let this whole IVF thing run its course.  It's the happy and healthy portion that counts...

Any news on your cycles, ladies?

This is it!!!!  3RD TIME IS A CHARM!!!!!
How many did they thaw to start with?  It's kinda of funny, because they only had 2 viable one's for me this past time, and told us 1 wasn't "looking so good" and they had both only divided once anyway.  I was kinda bummed cause I was kinda selfishly was looking for twins too! ha ha!  I'm older so what i get the first time is probably what we'll end with... be it 1 or 2.
Maybe the tears were because you know in your heart God is sending your little Angel to have you protect and be Mom and Dad to : )   Take it easy during you 2ww, and girl STICKY BABIES STICKY BABIES STICKY BABIES STICKY BABIES STICKY BABIES STICKY BABIES!!!!!

Thank you ladies!  I really appreciate it!

mhv, I am desperately hoping that 3rd time is the charm for both of us!

Transfer went ok.  Right before, the embryologist let us know that one embryo didn't thaw well and therefore was not viable, so that was disappointing.  Selfishly, I've always wanted twins, particularly because I don't want to have to go through this emotional roller coaster again in a couple of years (I've always wanted a large family.)  BUT on the bright side, at least they transferred one.  Of course, multiples are high risk, so it may be best in the end.

The odd thing was that I cried during the entire process.  Everyone in the room was so supportive, including hubby, but I can't believe that I did that!  I think that I was just so overwhelmed I broke...

Thanks for the words of encouragement!!!!  Right now, I need it.
We are considering starting again next week when I receive AF.... What are everyone's suggestions on that?  We used FET's last time and will be using them again this time.... so not retrieval or anything.....  I am pretty sure this one didn't "take" because the embryos weren't that great of qualilty.  They were "clean", but weren't dividing well.

Hi ladies,

My transfer is tomorrow-it's a frozen cycle and I'm hoping that I can join your conversation thread.  I've already gone through 2 cycles in the past year, so I'm hoping this one will 'stick.'

Anyone have any advice, or words of wisdom, because I could sure use it.
