so since in the Luteal phase, having higher estridol can effect the release of the egg,  maybe it could effect how many eggs are released?

No it does not. Estridol (estrogen is the manufactured form) is made in the first part of our cycles. The follicular phase. Which is what drops our temperatures and causes the corpus luteum (the egg) to grow into follicals. It grows till you produce lutenizing hormone (LH tha shows up on ovulation predictor tests). It then bursts and you ovulate then your progesterone levels rise and your estrogen drops till your next period. The second phase is called Luteal phase. You need balanced amounts of both estridol and progesterone to concieve. If you have to low or high estridol it effects the growth of the egg and release. If you have to low progesterone you have a high chance of miscarriage as it helps the uterine linning for the baby to be able to attach and stick. I have low progesterone and need to take progesterone suppliments from the dr. Lots of times in IVF you have low estridol and progesterone and have to take both at certain times. Hope this helps:)
