getting preggo right after a m/c

Hi. I just had a natural m/c at 5 weeks (Dec 14th) and really want ttc right away. I have a son and there were no complitcation with him so why now? Does anyone else feel this way? THe Dr. recommended waiting a cycle before ttc but said there was really no risk if I was to get pregnant. I would love to hear from other mom's or moms to be. I think I ovulated but am feeling very cautious and scared to get pregnant agian.

I miscarried 10/28 at 6 weeks.  I immediately got pregnant a few weeks later and never had a period.  I miscarried again at 5 weeks.  I know it is hard, but give your body time to recover.  I am emotionally having such a difficult time after miscarrying twice in a row.  We want a baby so bad.  I know that people do go on to have healthy pregnancies immediately after a miscarriage (& never having a period), but if you miscarry you may wonder if you had waited longer if the pregnancy would have been successful.

On another note, when I get pregnant again, how do you cope with the anxiety & worry of another miscarriage?  I am so scared it will happen again.

I just found out today I've had a miscarriage at 5 weeks.  I have 2 beautiful girls (both conceived very first try) It has taken me a year to conceive this time around and now I've miscarried.  I'm really sad and frustrated.  The gap is getting wider between kids and I'm not getting any younger, just turned 36.  Should I be concerned that this isn't going to happen for me.  Should I just start using the ovulation predictor on a regular basis and hope to strike gold again soon.  My doctor said it may take a month or 2 be get back on my very regular schedule.  It sounds like it's taking longer than that for a lot of you.

Hi, I had a D&C in September and have been trying to get pregnant again ever since.  However, I have been having skin rashes every month starting right before my period.  I've gone to the doctor to see why this is happening, but they don't have an explaination.  I have never had problems before the D&C and think that it is why I haven't been able to get pregnant again. I was just wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar after having a D&C?

Hi All,

I am new to this forum, but take great comfort in hearing about you all.  This was the worst Christmas ever.  This was my first try at getting pregnant.  I was pregnant and on Dec. 22nd I found out that it was a missed abortion at 8 weeks.  There was no baby eventhough the uterus was enlarging.  I had a d&c the 28th at 9 weeks, as soon as they could fit me in.  I spotted for a day and had no other symptoms.  After about 2.5 or 3 days I started to get cramps and heavier spotting, it felt just like a period.  I talked to a nurse and she said that it was a period and that it was normal since my period usually comes at that time.  I haven't had my follow up yet (next week) and I don't want to get my hopes up.  Has this happened to anyone else???  Also, it seems like your docs are recommending 1 cycle until ttc.  My doc wants 1 period and then 2 normal cycles.  Thanks.

Okay, my blood test revealed that I am NOT pregnant.  BUT, they always do and I give myself a hpt two weeks or so later and they are positive.  I will test again in a few weeks if I still don't get a period.

I had a m/c on Xmas Eve (very nice) at 5 weeks -no D&C needed.  Have a beautiful 2 year old daughter who was natural all the way with no problems (just took us 18 months to get her in there) --

I just saw my Dr. for a follow up, he says to wait two cycles to even try again.  I really don't want to wait, so we'll see what my body decides.

Reading the posts on this thread has been very helpful, I loved hearing that one of you lucky ladies got pregnant two weeks after the m/c ---

Jan.  I took a blood pregnancy test yesterday and it should be back today.  Again, my miscarriage was November 29 or so.  I had the d&c Nov. 30.  I still haven't had a period but still feel symptoms such as backache, stomach cramps, sore breasts, and other pregnancy/period like symptoms.  I will keep you posted on the results.  Again, I never got a period after my miscarriage and started having sex right after my dr. told me I could at my 2 week followup appointment.

I got pregnant 2 wks after my m/c.  It wasn't planned at all.  The only thing that was planned was the fact that we were going to wait for the new year.  =)  Well, I'm 6 1/2 wks and everything seems to be good.  I would have liked to wait but I thank God everyday for this baby.  This is my 3rd pregnancy after two m/c.  As you can tell, I'm nervous and freak out about everything but all in all, I feel ok.  I hope this is the one.  I would say wait at least 1 cycle but ultimately, do what your body tells you too.  It knows best. =)  Good luck!

I had a missed m/c (7w 4 days) and a D&C on 27th Sept,  I used Ovulation Predictor Kits which showed two LH surges and we weren't using protection so when I didn't have a period we thought I must have conceived but all HCG tests were neg. I started my first period since D&C on 1st Jan - 14 weeks (less one day) later.(An awfully long wait).
I have heard lots of stories about women getting pregnant again straight after a m/c but I think it may take some women (me included!) a while for their bodies to get back into the swing of things.

Good Luck!

I'm sorry for your loss.  I had a miscarriage on Nov 29th and have not had a period yet.  I visited my dr. two weeks after d&c for a followup and he told me the same thing your dr. told you.  I started back having unprotected sex and have not had a period so I think I might be pregnant again. I am having frequent urination, backaches, nausea, and sore breasts (not nipples).  I have taken hpt but they were all negative.  I also want to add that I usually don't get a positive test reading until I am 2-3 weeks past the date of my period and that's not the case right now because I don't know when to expect my period. Can someone tell me?

Well, you must keep me posted on if you are in fact pregnant. I am sorry for your loss and hope you are pregnant and carry the baby with no problems at all. DO you already have a child? I'm happy the hear other doctors don't make us wait months to TTC.

I am so sorry for your loss. My Dr. said we could have sex after bleeding stopped. It's so upsetting how you can have a totally normal pregnancy then m/c right after that. I wish you the best.

I, too, had a miscarriage this month. It was 6 weeks. I am just wrecked about it because I saw the fetus in 2 ultrasounds and was told everything looked good, including the heartbeat. I started bleeding the day after my first ultrasound, was given another to check on it then I cramped big time! It happened one week before Christmas so needless to say I was not in the Holiday spirit. I have a beautiful daughter who was natural all the way around so I also am baffled about this m/c. I want to ttc right away! I had a lot of cm last week, sore breasts for the past 3 days, and have spotted but the Dr. hasn't gotten back w/ me about what that means. I have read where these symptoms could be your body trying to regulate hormones. I want to believe it is ovulating signs so I feel normal again. I was told, however, by my Dr. I should wait 6 weeks to have intercourse (or baths, or use tampons) b/c the cervix may still be open and infection is a risk. Last week my hcg was 46 so I don't know what is going on w/ me. I am sorry for your losses. Good luck in the new year!

I'm in the same boat as you.  My doc wants me to wait, but said there's no real risk if I do right away.  I m/c Thursday morning at 5 wks 6 days.  I just don't know when I should be ovulating, etc.  I too have a daughter, had rough pregnancy with her due to severe morning sickness and dehydration, but no problems with her.  Good luck. I'd talk to you're doc and see what he thinks exactly.
