I just saw your posts. I'm so sorry for your m/c. I was going to post that I had the EXACT same thing happen to me. My numbers continued to go up but never quite doubled. This went on until the numbers got into the 7,000 range, but no heartbeat ever appeared. Its a truly extruciating time period because you "know" in your heart that its not going to happen, but its so confusing. It is truly the "adding salt to an open wound" event. My situation went on for almost 4 weeks of HCG's and u/s before it was finally determined it was not going to happen. I had to take the misoprostol though to get it to end...unfortunately the pregnancy really wanted to hang in there, but the baby just wasn't viable. Our bodies are amazing machines sometimes. It was explained to me that your body will continue to fight for a pregnancy and that's why the HCG's will rise slowly, but most times the baby is not viable. I'm so sorry for your loss and hope that your heart heals soon.
Just wanted to let everyone know that I did end up miscarrying naturally on Saturday. I'm so much happier knowing that it happened nautrally then having to take a pill.
Thank you everyone for your concern and good luck to everyone else.
I don't understand it either. Especially this early. I'm glad you are going to wait. I hope it is a little miracle for you and the parents. Please keep us posted. Good Luck.
Thank you everyone. I believe it was a 5 day but I'm not sure (I'm the surrogate)
The good news is that I'm an ultrasound tech and will be making sure it truly is a miscarriage before I do anything. I don't understand how drs. Can just so its not viable when they don't even wait!
Ok duh!!! I just saw ivf frozen cycle!!! Was it a 3 day transfer or a 5 day transfer???
Wow! I am sorry you are having to go through this! Was this a natural cycle or IUI or ivf? You could have implanted late. I would personally wait a week or so and make them do another u/s. you never know. Like ttc said, a heartbeat isn't detected until around 6-7 wks. Good luck!!!!
I just looked at my calendar to figure out your dates. You'd only be about 5 weeks and 4 days, right? Way, way to early for them to say it's a done deal. Most times a heartbeat isn't seen until after 6 weeks and sometimes not until 7. I know I don't know you, but I'm urging you to wait it out.
If the sac is in your uterus, I would definitely not take the pill to end it. Let nature take its course. I have seen miracle stories of low and slow rising hcg level turn into healthy full term babies. I would demand to go back in a week or even two to see what is going on. If it is to be a miscarriage, why not let your body do it on its own? There is no real harm to you in waiting to miscarry if that is indeed what is going to happen.
I feel for you. I had to end a pregnancy that was ectopic and even knowing it was my life or the baby, I had an incredibly hard time saying to go ahead with the surgery. I've also had a few chemical pregnancies, which are different than what you are going through, but I do understand your situation.
hcg numbers came back at 1095. So still not quite doubling but now I'm concerned because they are going up and there was a little sac, but they want me to take some pill that basically aborts it. Why wouldn't they recheck in a week to see if it's growing?
New update, the ultrasound today showed a little sac of course too early to see anything in it.
I will get my hcg numbers back sometime this afternoon. I will let you know when I hear!
Thank you for the posts :)
It sounds like its too early to see anything in an u/s. I sure hope you get answers soon. Pease keep us updated.
Nothing in ultrasound this morning. Hcg went up to 653. They have no idea whats going on! I go in again Friday. Hopefully there will be more answers then!
Hang in there it could be ok. My betas never doubled and only went up slowly. They first thought I was ectopic and then thought miscarriage but I delivered healthy baby boy on January 28. Pay attention though if you get pains. Did they schedule am ultrasound?
