Scared about a blighted ovum

Hey all.  I am really nervous.  I found out yesterday that I am five weeks preganant.  I had two previous miscarraiges last year, both blighted ovums.  I was reading up, and they say that it is really rare to have more than one, especially two in a row.  The readings stated that there could be a problem with the chromosomes in either my eggs or the sperm, but most likely the eggs.  Sperm chromosome defects are rare.  I feel like I am going to have another blighted ovum.  Any words or encouragement.

I also had two blighted ovums in a row-both around 6-7 weeks.  I was absolutely devastated and we couldn't get any answers from our drs other than sometimes this just happens and to do testing if we had 3 in a row.  We were also told that it was very rare to have more than one blighted ovum.  I started taking baby aspirin and progesterone suppositories and now I am pregnant with twins due in October.  Keep trying, sometimes it really just takes time to get it right!!

You're right two is very rare, especially in a row.  I know you're scared and it's going to be hard to enjoy your pregnancy until you're outta the 1st trimester.  But it sounds like you're fairly young and if you are in your 20's or 30's, it's probably not a chromosomal problem.  They should be able to see the baby's heartbeat about 6w and 3 days.  So hold out for a week and see if they'll do an ultrasound to make sure it's a viable pregnancy.

Congratulations, and you're right about the blighted ovum being rare!   So hang in there.
