irregular period (polycystic ovaries )

Hi   i am 23 married , i am try to conseive,
i am having  irregular periods, my periods come after 40 daysand  bleeds upto 15 to 20 . some time it comes every month &bleeds 20 day these continues copule of month.  doctor suggested to use birth control pills . i used ,when i am using it coming normal but stopped same condition . one of the doctor said i am having  poly cystic ovaries.
i used glyciphage i used for 3 month continuly bleeding for 3 months ,but i  did not work for me day .another doctor suggested me to use ovulation kit .the thing is when to use it, i am bleeding  upto 20  or 22 days again next month perods is coming so  please tell me your suggestion . how to shorten my period length?
if i am having  bleeding  is it right  to use predictor ovulation kit? test will be accurate?

in regards to opk's: early-pregnancy-tests.com has cheap ovulation strips you can purchase.  you can use them whenever and with you able to purchase only the strips, you get more for your money and ... yes they do work

hello! sorry to hear that your going through this!   i also have PCOS (but it is mild, so i get my periods every 30 days) however i have ovulation problems becuase of it... metformin works great for a lot of people! my dr didn't want to put me on it since my case is mild, so instead i just ate a low carb diet (tried to prevent any big blood sugar flucatuations) and i did super low carb around ovulation time 2 months ago (and we ended up getting pregnant then too!)    many people with PCOS do need to be on ovulation drugs.. have you had a sonogram and a saline hyterosonogram? to check for fibroids and polyps make sur ethat the long bleeding isnt' cause from any of those things? getting set up with a fertiltiy doctor should really help you out a lot!   GOOD LUCK! :)

I to have PCOS and was discovered about 2-years ago I had went 5-months with no period as I was off my BC pills. My doctor put me on Metforin 500mg a day to help with periods and the excessive weight I was gaining. It did help me get my periods and helped me lose a bit of weight, not much but made a difference. I have always had normal periods but to think your doctor would want you to use a ovulating kit, not while menstrating I dont think that makes sense. DId your doctor put you on any fertility drugs? Clomid? I was out on clomid in April 50mg then in May she bumbed to 100mg I had my first IUI procedure on June 10 and very patiently waiting day 17 which is June 26 t o know if my period comes or not then I go for blood test to determine accuracy.. Good Luck. I would speak to your doctor about the OPK
