Is there still Hope?

My DH and I have been trying to conceive since our wedding which is 2 years ago this month. We tried to conceive naturally for 1 year, and then I booked an appointment with our Dr. Within 6 months from then we were booked into a fertility specialist (RE). After many investigations we found out it was male infertility. We were then told that the only way to try for a successful pregnancy was to do IVF. I started the hormone injections and much to my surprise I did not respond well to this treatment at all. I had two failed cycles, in which I did not produce enough follicles and was switched to 2 IUI cycles, both of which failed. This past month I finally made it to an IVF cycle. So excited about this. We had 4 eggs, that fertilized with the ICSI procedure. We transferred an 8 cell grade 2 embryo, and a 9 cell grade 2 embryo on day 3. The other two we were going to freeze. They were both 6 cell grade 2 on day 3. I just got the phone call today, saying that they did not make it to the blast stage. We have spent so much money as I was on an extreme high dose of medicine. I was spending $1000/day. I am wondering if anyone can offer insite. I was positive until this morning.  Now I feel discouraged. Because the other 2 embryos did not make it, does that mean that the two that were transferred likely won't either? Any insite out there? I am new to this forum and look forward to any replies.

No, having the remaining two embryos not make it to blast definitely does not mean the two that were transferred won't make it.  I had ICSI done on four eggs, but only three fertilized, and of those only two even made it to my day 3 transfer.  I got my BFP last week. :)  I'm not familiar with the number grading system (my doctor uses a report card letter system) - what does a 2 mean?

I don't think it means they didn't make it. I think you have a good chance! I really hope you get your BFP! Good luck!

Hi Seattleview. Thank you so much for commenting. I am having a terrible day. I am trying to stay positive here, but man, this 2ww is killing me!!! Congratulations on your BFP. I can only hope that we receive the same outcome. Our Beta test is on June 19th. June 12th I go in for an ultrasound, and blood work to check the progesterone levels, and my uterine lining.  I think an grade2 would be equivalent to a "B". From what I have found on the internet it is <20% fragmentation. Did you have any cramps? I am having some today, and I feel lightheadeded also. I am not sure if I can attribute this to the phone call I got this morning.

I was very lightheaded when I was pregnant back in Jan.  I thought I had a head cold or something that was making me feel that way but than to my surprise I got a BFP.    I hope you get a BFP this month.

How early on in your pregnancy were you lightheaded though? I am only 4 days past my 3 day transfer, and having some mild cramps. Contracts on your BFP!!!

Thank you!  No, I did not have any cramps. The only non-normal feelings I had as early as you are were ongoing bloating and fatigue.  I think these were a result of the meds, the ER and ET, and all the emotions.

So, when is your due date? That is awesome. I am extremely bloated and fatigued as well. I do not fit into any of my regular clothes due to the size of my stomach - it already looks like I am PG 0 LOL!! When does the bloating feeling subside from all the drugs, do you know?

I am due 2/9/11. My actual bloating subsided about a week after the transfer, but I also gained a few pounds during the process so I still can't comfortably wear my jeans or most of my other pants.

So I can look forward to the bloating subsiding!! I have put on some weight too, I can squeeze into my jeans, but its totally not even comfortable. Again congrats on your BFP. I love hearing good news stories, it helps to keep my chin up.

I actually went shopping for what I called "cheap big fat jeans" this weekend, but just couldn't bring myself to buy jeans 1 to 2 sizes bigger than what I was wearing a month ago.  Guess I just won't be wearing jeans for a while. :)

Funny, I was thinking of doing that exact same thing. I might just have to though because I have no idea what is going to get me through until I either get a BFP or until I lose the weight! Which ever it is!
