I asked about gender because I know that certain meds like clomid for instance increase your chances of having a girl because they make the vaginal secretions a bit more acidic- that is why I asked about the gender issue.
I conceived on prometrium 400 mg. Unfortunately it ended in mc, but I did get pregnant...the fetus was a male (I had a d&c and they tested to see what was wrong--everything was "normal")---but progesterone has nothing to do w/ conceiving a particular sex. Like pol79princess said, it's just to help prevent potential miscarriage...
Good luck!
Hi,
I believe Prometrium IS progesterone; I took it in the form of vaginal capsules, always after my IUIs, 2x/day. After my IVF I've been taking Crinone 3x/day, also progesterone, just in the form of vaginal gel. Either one has nothing to do with determining gender of your baby, though; the purpose is to help prevent a potential miscarriage. Best of luck.
