progestone injections for 2ww

Question

Hi all, my doc has changed from crinone ( 1st IVF, failed ) to gestone injections, its sore, it hurts..are there any subsitutes for this terrible daily pain in my butt injection. Its day 7 of 2ww and had 6 emb transfered.

hey .. crinone is a progesterone cream that is inserted using an applicator into the vagina .. are you being put on it?  how are you doing in your wait??

I use ice on the area for two min and I cant even feel the needle go in.

I have 2X am and 2X pm suppositories plus 2ml oil inject progestrone for tww and if preggo continues for 12wks. I went to pharmacy and asked for numbing cream (called Emla) if feels like when you go to dentist for filling but in your butt, put it on half hour before injection DH did first time injection last night and I told him to put needle in slow not jab it in and inject progestrone slowly not fast did not feel a thing. He was shaking in his boots to give me an injection but I told him he would make a great nurse...lol.  Good Luck hope this helps.

I iced the area while setting up the injection. Then I rubbed vigorously for about a minute immediately after the injection. Followed that with 10-15 minutes on a heating pad. Stopped hurting so much then. I also heard that walking after the injection helps. The medicine needs to absorb and it doesn't do that quickly on its own, the the faster you can make that happen, the less pain you should feel.  Good luck!

Being that the progesterone is absorbed in the muscle it will get in your system faster to support the pregnancy. That was the worst three days of the entire cycle. And my hubby had to administer it lol! Poor guy was terrified. After three days I was switched to progesterone suppositories. Good luck and prayers to you.

I used crinone but my nurse said that nothing is better then muscule injections.may be crinone was the rison to not get pregnant the first time .think that with every injection you increase your chances to get positive test results.good luck
By the way my 1st IVF with crinone failed
