short period normal?

so i have a question, i was just wondering if it is normal to have a VERY light and VERY short period, i always had a very short and light period, 3 - 4 days, everything that lasts longer isn't very "normal", the rest of my female family members have a much longer period and it just occurred to me that maybe that has anything to do with me not conceiving or not right ovulating or something, idk, i was just wondering...

thanks for any info :)

I would get your thyriod checked first cuz hyperthyriod can do that . So can being underweight. You also might need to check you preogesterone level. If your levels are off your estridol (estrongen which is in the foliccular phase, the first part) and you progesterone ( which is in your luteal phase the second part after ovulation) might be out of balance. If your out of balance it can make it short or longer. Progesterone gets checked on CD3 for 1st then on 7 days past ovulation or CD21 if you can not tell if you ovulate. You need to use an ovulation predictor kit to see if you are. Buy the Answer one 20 sticks for $19 at Rite Aid. Start taking them the day after your period ends. Take it at least 4 hours after you wake up the same time each day and after no fluid intake for like 2-3 hours. Best of Luck! My period are light and it is due to boarderline hyperthyriod. You also can test for thyriod antibodies and have problems with ok TSH levels.

thanx :) slowly i think the two could be connected, the not concieving and my short period, your period sounds even more "normal" then mine, but what is normal anyways? my period starts, is VERY light the first day, gets a little heavier (but still light) the second, gets light the third again, and is either gone by day 4 or it turned into spotting and i only realize that by wiping, anyways... i guess i should consult my doctor :) thanx again :)

it's normal to me... but you might want to check with your doctor to see why... I used to have my period light for first day, then getting heavy for 2 days, then light for 4th day, then stop on 5th... since i reached 35, my period start light.. sometimes I have light period in the morning and by next day it's gone... it's not even touch the pad..  i asked my doctor and she said because my uterine lining was thin... that's why it didn't shred much...

You never know... It's could be something else.  ask your doctor and there might be some medicine help your period...

good luck.
