taking clomid & metformin and still not ovulating

I am on my 3rd cycle of clomid and my doctor just started me on Metformin, I am on my 13th day after my period and I am supposed to take the ovulation test every day until day 20.  I have not ovulated once since I have started any of these drugs and feel like I am wasting my time taking these drugs if there is no effect.  I am getting worried I may never be able to get pregnant.  Is there hope?  My doctor wants me to stay on Clomid & Metformin for a total of 6 mths, but if i don't even ovulate do I still have a chance?  I took a bunch of blood work and they said all my test are good.  And my pap was normal.

Thanks!

Hi I'm on 300mg Clomid 3x Metformin tablets a day and provera to start my period. Have worked my way up to 300mg since March of this year. Have to have a blood test on day 21, although, I am having a 40 day cycle as it takes 12 days for my period to come after taking the provera.Which means that on day 21 my level is 1 every month! Can this be with taking so many drugs!? I am also having Acupuncture every other week. Have an appointment on Tuesday am thinking maybe the injections are the next stage. Having side effects this month for the first time (good sign?) Metformin is making me queasy with some bouts of having an upset stomach. Really tired too!

Anyway, that's me! Still trying, still waiting and getting more and more upset and frustrated. Any advice/help/encouragement will be much appreciated!

Yes, quinnsey, that all ties in.  He' talking about a 2mm follicle being about right for ovulation to occur so the fact that you have one at 1mm and are due to ovulate tomorrow is about right as it should keep expanding until then and then hopefully ovulate!

It's all good

Sure, no problem..
Yes, if you didn't O on Clomid, that only means that your body doesn't respond to Clomid, but it is too early to get depressed :)
Seriously, you WILL get O on injectables, because they are much stronger....please talk to your RE, that shouldn't be a problem..many people get pregnant on injectables and IUI...so don't worry!

Hi, I only produced 1 follicle when I was on Metformin 1,000 mg, and Clomid 150...
if it won't work for you, you should move to injectables...don't worry, you WILL ovulate...when I had 2 rounds of clomid, I gave up myself and then I took metformin for a month to get my body prepared, then added Clomid 150 next month and had 1 follicle and now I am pregnnat!!
SO DONT YOU WORRY!

i still haven't ovulated and getting very depressed.  i just don't understand.  should i let my doctor know i am still not ovulating and see if he wants to put me on something else before finishing my 6 mth cycle of clomid and metformin?  it sounds like some people it does work, but it doesn't look that way for me.  i have very irregular periods so i am on provera too to start my period.  does any one has storeis about that?

I had EXACTLY the same story and I developed 1 mature follicle at Clomid 150 plus Metformin...Im still taking Metformin, though....
I had IUI done 2 weeks ago, and I tested positive today!
So there is hope for you as well!@!

If you won't ovulate on this dosage, then you will more to injectables, which will esure you that you will Ovulate ( its a very strong dosage of hormons)

What Clomid dosage are you taking?

I was on the clomid/metformin combo for quite a while, the max dose of each.  It did not work for me.  I needed an HCG trigger shot to make me ovulate because my body would not do it on it's own.  So if this combo doesn't work for you, you may want to suggest that to your doctor.  Good luck!

I also started on just clomid, then started on metformin my third cycle because I did not ovulate with just the clomid.  My RE kept increasing clomid and then put me on metformin.  My fourth cyle I did ovulate and became pg, but had an ectopic.  We just ended our 5th cycle this month-BFN yesterday, but I did ovualte!  I have worked up to 150 clomid for 7 days and 2000mg metformin.  I had three good sized folicles! I just needed to find the right combination of clomid/met. for my body to start ovulating--which took a few months. I had major stomache issues when I first started the met, but they are fine now--I've been on it since the end of November.  THERE IS HOPE don't give up!  I hope the metformin gets you ovulating like it has helped me.  Best wishes.
