unusual symptoms

i have had irregular cycles since i was a teen varying between 48 days to 3 months in length. i have been having unprotected sex with my husband for over three years and have never been able to get pregnant. i have been tested for hormonal irregularities and pcos, but was told that i should not have any problem conceiving. i started monitoring my cycles about a year ago for a while, but after a lot of disappointments and no success i gave up. in the past several months my cycles have been more regular, about 29-32 days in length. i have been exercising regularly, eating a very healthy diet, and sticking to a very regular sleep schedule, which might have something do do with this as i have never been able to maintain this kind of lifestyle before in my life. anyway i have not been testing or checking whether or not i have been ovulating, having lost much of my hope for children months ago and deciding to move on with my life. but i have been noticing this apparent normalcy in my cycle and when i suspected i was ovulating last month we made an attempt to conceive.

i am now in day 36 of my cycle (36 days since the start of my last period)... i expected to start my period again sometime last week or over the weekend. but instead of starting my period i have been experiencing some very unusual symptoms... it is normal for my breasts and nipples to be very sore and swollen before my period, and they have been for about 4 days now, but i am also noticing that i am extremely fatigued. it doesn't seem to matter if i get the right amount of sleep, or if i try to sleep longer than usual. three or four times a day at work, and i sit down at a computer all day, i feel so tired and lethargic that all i can think about is laying down for a nap. my head gets heavy and foggy and it is a struggle to keep my eyes open sometimes.

also strange is i have realized that in the last 4 or 5 days my  appetite has increased dramatically. i am not having cravings, but i feel insatiable, especially when i feel the fatigue comming on. i feel like i just *need* food, even though i eat 3 regular healthy meals and snack a little throughout the day, just to keep going. my body just keeps wanting more. i know that this could be because of hormonal changes if i am only just starting to get ready for my period, but i have never had these symptoms before. am i imagining things?

i checked my cervical position which is very low and soft, unusual for expecting my period any day now, and more like what i would expect if i was ovulating. could i be ovulating twice in a cycle? is this a sign of implantation? is it too early to take a home pregnancy test? should i even bother? i don't want to get my hopes dashed again, but i have to say that after all that trying and failing i can say i never had these symptoms before... i guess i really do still want this. should i take a pregnancy test now? how long should i wait?

thanks in advance for your advice!

okay, well i decided to wait another week. i read somewhere about how long it takes to get the most accurate result, and i guess waiting until a week has passed after you missed your period will give the best chance of the chemicals being detected by the test. i just want to be sure. i don't want to take one too soon and get a bfn if there is still chance i could wait a little longer and see a different result.

aaahhh!!! don't get me so excited! i think it was for about three days from the 17th - 19th of july and we were going at it basically the whole time! ;P so it's been a little over three weeks since then... i don't think i can count on my cervix to tell me whether or not i am though... i have always had trouble telling the difference between low/high and open/closed... it is very soft though... maybe because it should be time for my period... and i am kind of starting to doubt my symptoms... like maybe there must be some other reason i am feeling like this and i am just getting my hopes up...

but what the heck! i think i'll go for it. but is three weeks too early to know?

I would say go ahead and take the HPT!  Those do sound like pg symptoms to me (I was like that when i was pg with my daughter) but I too have gotten my hopes up due to "symptoms" only to get a BFN.  How long ago did you think you ovulated?  If its been two weeks, I say go for it!  Yay, maybe you're pregnant!
