vitex and missed period.

i started taking vitex a day ago, which was the day before my AF was to arrive.
I am on a 34 day cycle and start EVERY 34 days for the past 6 months. We have been TTC for 9 months, and i missed AF yesterday. Took a HPT the day before AF was due and it came back negative. I've quit taking it just incase I am Prego though.

I was wondering if anyone has missed a period while taking vitex? I wouldn't think that 2 glasses of vitex tea would make me miss, and I've never heard of anyone missing a period while taking it (i've read hours and hours of info on it lol)

Anyone have experience with taking it?

I have PCOS and Fibroids as well.  Got off the pill about 3 mos ago and started taking Vitex.  I had one regular period no bleeding in between, but have had the back pains and stomach cramps like I'm having menses.  Not sure why, but I am happy to have had a regular length period that came and ended.  Usually before Vitex and without BCP, i would have a period for like a month!!!

Hi, I have also been taking vitex for over 5 weeks now together with dandelion, jamaican dogwood (in capsules) together with a female balance herb tea that consists of chamomile, alfalfa, vitex, oastraw, raspeberry, fennel, crampbark, squavine, foti, licorace and black cohosh.  The tea, I drink once a day and the capsules 2 of each once a day.  I take these because I am trying to get pregos and I have been told that I have fibros.  Last month, I went on my periods on 27/09 and up to now 3/11 I have not been on my periods but I am cramping and suffering from back pains.  I have had two prego test and they are all coming up as negative.  Does anyone know whether these herbs could stop one's periods - I am now most confused and do not know what to do.

I'm not sure if I had a chemical pregnancy or not.  my AF comes every 34 days, on time. I started taking birth control for two years due to excessive bleeding.  I've been off birth control for 9mos now with very light AF. last month my AF came a week early, perhaps chemical pregnancy due to the amount. I started vitex a week before my AF, but, no AF -just a few spots. still negative for baby. hum... I don't know what to do, if I should stop taking it and maybe try something else to help increase my flow.

just to add to what all the ladies have said .. vitex cannot mess up your cycle if your hormone levels are normal already .. all it does is regulate hormones ... it's not an extra dose of hormone .. it will just make sure that everything is operating at the right level so can never hurt!!  good luck!

The Vitex will help to regulate AF I had normal cycle since on them, I have since stop taking it since I am moving to ovarian drilling and will be get it done in the sec week of Oct. I had my blood test come back normal from being on the Vitex the RE was so happy to see that. He was even in shock that I was taking that. Well If you have PCOS yes you can take the Vitex if helps with getting AF and no would not mess you up if you just started taking them. It takes a while to regulate you I got my AF on time the first month and then after. I Love Vitex it help me get normal AF and better not even bleeding alot and short AF are great. Ov on CD 12 thats even better. but as for Rachey I would see what your doc says about why you late with AF might need to do a Blood test to make sure your not pregos.
Good luck girls and hope all works out for you with the Vitex.

I'm was taking the vitex for ovulation issues. We've been TTC for 9 months now with no luck. I literally only took 2 doses the day before my AF was spose to arrive, as you said, it's slow acting so I didn't think it would mess up my AF that soon!

Still no AF. Going on 3 days now, lower abd cramps and massive heartburn but 3 neg preg test. Gonna wait another 4 days and test again.

Hi was reading your comment, I know everyone is different , this is my case, i have PCOS, my ovaries are blocked, so therefore I am not ovulating or have AF. I was on meds to help me O, because I was TTC, now that I am not  I was wondering if that would work for me, I am still taking metformin the doc gave me to help regulate my hormones and stuff to see if that would work, I tried Fertilaid last year and I did have a AF for the mth I took it...where did you buy your Vitex from and I am thinking I should give it a shot to see if my menses go back to some what normal... what do you think since you have taken it and it worked for you??
thanks...

I took take Vitex and I have not missed one AF since taking it. My question to you is why are you taking the Vitex?
Do you have PCOS? Do you have problems with your hormones?
Do you have problems with Ov? I only ask because I can help to answer your question better. SInce Vitex is only to fix problems that ask you about. If  you have no problems with the following you should not take Vitex for it will not work for you and will mess up your cycles. That could be the reason to why AF has not shown up. Vitex works slow so it will not be this fast in your body to stop it. I would wait a few days and see if AF comes and when she does take the Vitex 2x or 3 x a day. when I first took mine I took it 3x a day for 8 weeks now I am down to 1 a day. SInce taking them I have Ov and had AF on time. I have PCOS I never ov on till I started using Vitex.
