Ovulation

Hi, I have pcos and have been off birth control since Jan. I finally got my period in Aug naturally and bled for 13 days. It finally stopped. I know all cycles are different but do you have any idea how many days after my period stopped I should be ovulating? Also, is it helpful to drink whey powder when trying to get pregnant? Thanks!

Hi I also have PCOS and is on Metformin and also just started a round of Gonal F. Thats is supposed to help with ovulation. The metformin does not make me sick anymore, I take 1 in the morning and 2 at night that way if I feel sick I wouldn't know cause I'm asleep. LOL and so far it has worked for me. I did also try clomid but it didn't work for me, and I wa taking Follisitim and that, I did make me ovulate and I had AF with out taking pills... anyway don't give up hope, keep doing what you are doing, someone on here told me that pineapple is good for a thick uterus so try it ... it never hurts..lol but keep faith it will happen for US all, I try not to be stressed out about the whole thing cause stress doesn't really help with what we are trying to do.So good luck and SSBD to u xxxx

My doctor had said that Letrazole was stronger than the clomid and if letrazole didn't work there wasn't any point in trying clomid which was very discouraging when it didn't help the eggs mature. But I am going to try and eat as healthy as I can and keep doing the workouts and hopefully that will help. It's helping with my energy levels and also emotionally already. I am naturally a very emotional person and it is so hard emotionally when you want so badly to get pregnant just once and can't yet you see others getting pregnant over and over again so easily. Don't get me wrong I am happy for others who get pregnant it's just hard sometimes. Thanks for all your feedback. Congratulations on your pregnancy!! You must be super excited!!

I agree with the above posts.
I also have PCOS and began seeing a RE.  After 2 months with him, I am 4 1/2 weeks pregnant.
There are meds out there to help regulate you and make sure you have maturing eggs.

Best of luck!

i'm sorry about your difficulty.  don't loose hope.
i did come across that whey is a fertility superfood... that is if you think you are not getting enough protein in your diet.  easy way to get protein without the fat.  and yes, loosing weight also helps with pcos and i'm glad your dh is doing this with you :)
also, aside from metformin... have you tried clomid?  it is also used to help with ovulation, even with pcos.  a lot of women in this forum had gotten pg on clomid alone.  it is an easy drug (small pill) and imagine cheap.  the most people have as side effect is headache.
good luck and i hope somebody weigh's in on this as well... other than me.:))
ps.  if you haven't do so... look up pcos on this forum and you can read about what they do.
wishing you baby dust!

Thanks for your feedback. We have been to the doctor and I've tried metformin and I was taking Letrazole but my egg was not growing big enough to do iui and we can't afford the other options so we decided since I felt horrible taking metformin that we'd stop all drugs and if it happens great if not we'd accept that. Even though we both would really love to be parents. We started p90x 2 weeks ago and I'm trying to lose some weight hoping that will help. I'm taking whey protein as a recovery drink and then to my surprise saw on a website, whey protein is a fertility "superfood". I'm wondering if anyone knows if that's true and if it can really help? I'm hoping I miraculously ovulate again this month and with any luck we'll get pregnant:)

if you are officially diagnosed with pcos... ovulation is difficult to predict... in my opinion.  i read that not only is it difficult to predict (even with the ovulation predictor kits) b/c pcos individuals have irregular ovulation so it doesn't follow a certain # of days after your period stops.

if you want to get pg... you should consult with a reproductive endocrinologist who can help you with getting pg.  there are meds and procedures that can help in getting your eggs to mature.

although... i can't imagine you cannot still get pg on your own since you are ovulating but not regularly and not something you can predict so you'll essentially shoot in the dark.  if you do not want to waste time...  consult with a doc.

good luck!
