IUI's 1 or 2 per cycle

My Dr. suggests that we only do 1 IUI and that doing two is not beneficial?  The cost of IUI is covered by insurance so the money is not a concern.  Do you think it is better to do 1 IUI or 2 IUI's?  Also do you think I could increase my odds if I did 150mg of Clomid instead of the 100mg I have done my last two cycles?  I produced 3 preovulation follicles last 2 months on 100mg.  If I were to get 4 to 6 on higher dosage I would assume that is a good thing, correct?

Do you recommend the HCG shot with IUI's?  I think it is a good idea to be sure I ovulate but I didn't do the shot the past few months because she didn't think it was necessary?  This is my last IUI attempt before moving on to IVF and I want to try and maximize this last opportunity.  I am 31, have had 2 miscarriages at 10 weeks and at 8 weeks.  My reading on Day 3 for Clomid Challenge was 9.6 although Day 10 I was 15.

THANKS FOR YOUR TIME!

My dr. suggests the same thing.   He won't do 2 IUI's in 1 cycle.  He says his experience is that  one well timed IUI is just as successful as 2, and the 2 IUI's per cycle do not increase your odds of pregnancy.

My doc. also doesn't think the HCG shot is necessary. It would make me feel better to see those follicles and have that shot.  But, he said it is just a visual to give the patient confidence, but doesn't increase likelyhood of pregnancy making it not cost effective.  There are lots of other opinions on this, so ultimately you need to make the decision and fight for what you are comfortable with.

Your FSH is a little high.  It'll make it more challenging to get pregnant, but certainly not impossible!  I'm suffering from the same thing!  cd 3 FSH 16!!    What is your age?

If you are ovulating on 100mg you do not need 150mg.  Clomid helps you to ovulate not necessarily produce more follicles.

I am on injectables with IUI.  My RE only does 1 IUI.  I have heard several people on this forum that do 2.   My RE also does the HCG...but that is mostly because I am on inectables.  He never offered that as a possibility when I was doing Clomid.

Good luck to you!!
