I have been suffering from severe back pain for about 4 years now. Other symptoms include very tight and tender muscles throughout my body. I have had MRI'S, CT'S, bone scans and a battery of blood work that all says I am fine!!!!! I AM NOT FINE!!!! Some days it is such a chore just to get out of bed in the morning. I am a father of 3 and happily married. My wife is in the understanding that it is stress and depression!!!! I wish that's all it was. I can tell you that this pain is more than stress and depression. The pain is causing the stress and depression. I have tried all different medications from anti depressants to muscle relaxers to heavy duty pain meds and also had a nerve blocker done. NO RELIEF!!!! Is this FIBRO? What is my best next course of action???? Thank you, FRUSTRATED as hell. Mike

I understand the financial difficulties, however, I urge you to go back to the doctor and get re-tested for lupus. A lot of the symptoms you're describing, including the "rash" (sunburn look and feel), are, or at least very well could be, symptoms of lupus. It's very common to have to have several lupus tests before it showing positive, so just becuse you've had one negative result, doesn't mean you DON'T have it. In my case, it took three tests before it came up positive.
One thing I would also suggest, before you do go for the test, spend some time out in the sun - preferably the day before AND right before your test, but at least 1/2 hour right before the test. In people with lupus, many times, spending time in the sun will raise the levels in your blood, making it easier for the bloodwork to detect it. Not that you necessarily WANT to have lupus, but doing this may allow the levels in your blood (if present) to raiise enough to be detected and therefore, getting a diagnosis quicker.
Have you noticed that the "rash" and other symptoms are worse after you've been in the sun or have gotten overheated?
Your family physician should be able to do the lupus blood test, which will save you some money (not having to go to a specialist for that) and then, if it's postiive, he/she may want to refer you to a rheumatologist. While a family physician technically CAN treat lupus patients, a rheumatologist definitely has more experience with it and knowledge about the best treatment/s.
I hope you get some answers soon!
This is really interesting to me, My main issue with fibromyalgia is leg pain and fatigue! I have leg pain 24/7 but somedays are better then others, everyday is a challenge. I also have an elevated heart rate and higher then normal blood pressue latly, my resting heart rate is 95, doctors dont seem to ever wonder why or care about it. But As a medical professional i know its not good, and is a sign something is wrong. Have you found anymore research on this?
