Cortisol and Norefferin NE(sp)

I went to my psychologist today after seeing him Monday. He was concerned and did some homework on all I am going through. Besides the FM, I have PTSD. I am afraid to leave my house and have lots of pain.  What he said was interesting. He drew a chart of all the things I have been through and how the Cortisol and NE were very low from these things. These are chemicals in your brain. If in overdrive they can become almost non-existant and effect your body.  He suggests that I need to get my blood moving,  exercise and perhaps meds that contain these drugs, there are some. I don't plan on that, but do want to get on my stationary bike, walk, something besides being the couch potato I have been to get my blood flowing.  He said this is key for me to get passionate about something that will help me and also change the course of the chemicals in my brain.  The water aerobics, or whatever will help get me there.  While in this flare, I haven't been able to and sometimes it takes a lot just to get out and move.  We have to do this or we won't feel better.  Hope this helps someone, including me.

yep,  Had the PTSD and the chemo only exasberated it.  The Lyrica seems to be helping, so I will keep going on it.  No rush to judgement,  I know what stress does to the body.  The flare started on the anniversay of the attack. So who knows?  I sure hope its not FM or CFS,  but will see how it goes.  I started lots of vitamins lately and hope they help.   Thanks

Let us know how it goes!  Both PTSD and FM can mess with cortisol and norefferin in the brain.  If it works then it may be the PTSD that's impacting you.  You have a lot going on with the PTSD, trouble leaving the house, and recent chemo.  I'd hold off on the FM diagnoses until you've given you're body a chance to heal from some of this.  Doesn't mean you can't try FM stuff, but no need to rush to judgement.  Along with the exercise, you can look into vitamin supplements since the chemo may have drained and put stress on your body.
