Cry Baby

I am working thru different symptoms of FM. Terrible Times!  Recently my hands and feet have started to swell.  I wake up with my hands like baseball mitts.  Very painful.  What can I do?  Is this a sympton of FM?

I saw the doc yesterday.  He is such a nice person.  I really like my Dr.  He schedules an hour for time.  Wonderful man!

He thinks it might be Carpal Tunnel.  I am going to try physical therapy and braces for three weeks and if it istill hurts I will have surgery.  Surgery takes about eight minutes and three day recovery. thanks

I don't think actual swelling is a symptom of Fibro.  I get the feeling that they are swelling when I am in hot/humid conditions or if I am excercising, but they don't actually look swollen when that happens.  That IS a common symptom of Fibro.  If you have actual swelling, you need to call your doctor and have some things checked out.  You could be having hypertension, cardiovascular problems due to diabetes, etc.  It is really easy to overlook an underlying condition because when you have fibro you tend to blame every symptom on the Fibro.  Fibromyalgia can definitely be a secondary condition to other more serious diseases as well.  Stay in tune with your body and what it is trying to say to you.   Let me know what the doc says.

I just wanted to add that the reason I don't think the swelling is due to Fibro (not that I am a doctor or anything) is that with Fibro you shouldn't be able to see any physical evidence of the disease.  This is what is so baffling about Fibro.
