Diclofenac (Voltarin) Gel?
Hi folks! Have any of you used Diclofenac or Voltarin Gel for relief from general pain on thighs, etc.(and other large areas ... LOL? What was your experience? Did it actually relieve any of your pain? I've used the tablet form, but it made me sick to my stomach. Is this likely to do the same? Thanks for your help.
......here in NZ we go into a supermarket or pharmacist and buy it.......pretty damn easy actually!! Yep it works but only on shallow muscular pain. Anything more "deep-seated" seated use 50mg Enteric Coated voltaren......doesnt upset your stomach and NO your'e not going to die of a heart attack because of it (a lot of nonsense talked out there around this),,,,,but hey what you will notice is a reduction in pain!! yah.
Yes I have used voltaren in both forms....my rheumie prescribed and it has helped for muscle pain, joints (knee shoulder neck elbow) and it does seem to help. The gel doesnt cause as much problems for me which is great. It also is a godsend as I cant take nsaids aspirin, etc as I am on bloodthinners. Good luck
I don't know how to get it on line, sorry. I live in the Puerto Vallarta area of Mexico, and I got it over the counter at my local pharmacy. Too bad you need a prescription for absolutely anything that works in the U.S. and Canada. Hope you find some relief.
My original post is a year old now, and I have been using this gel about twice a week since then. That neuralgic pain is almost unbearable without it, and the gel takes the edge off so I can function fairly well. I do get nauseous when I'm overzealous in applying it, but I just take half a Gravol (dimenhydrinate) and I'm fine. It's good stuff!

recently i was loaned the remains of a tube of Voltarin Gel to try to get felief frompain in me fingers,wrists & ankles. it did help a lot. How can I obtain a tube of this prodrct for myself online?Forum
I use the voltarin gel as well. Also on largish areas of the body, but I have to be careful as it will make me super nauseaus. My doc said it was like a "super anti-inflammatory" that absorbs through the skin.
It only works for certain types of pain on me. For example it doesn't do anything for my nerve pain, but it helps my joints and the long muscles that ache on me in the morning or after walking.
There is also a new patch on the market my doc tried on me. Its basically like the voltarin gel, but stuck to a 6x6 patch that you stick on. It didn't do much for me because it is such a small area I would have to use like 10 of them and they are not cheap, so I cannot honestly reccomend them. but they might be good for someone who had pain in a smaller area.

I have only recently heard of that med. My husband was having unbearable "poke in the eye with a hot poker" headaches. the doc gave him these. At the moment he is a miserable male, moaning and groaning about everything. Has stress at work and stress at home. told him to leave each set of stress in the appropriate place so at least he only comes home with home (me poorly, elderly,poorly mum lives with us) with one steress. He used to be so laid back.
anyway, he took these tablets and it was like a miracle! I had my man back! We had the best 10days for years and it got so that I could tell whether or not he had needed to take or not, just from his mood.
I looked it up and, from what i could see as an ordinary non-medic person, it does the same sort of thing as Prozac as well as the pain relief.
No wonder he felt so much better! I've been begging him to go back and ask the doctor for the feelgood component of this med ( you have to act stupid with English docs, they like to think patients know nothing). Anyway, no luck yet but, being a man, he'll prob go when I'm not looking.
Do you think there is a way to take them where you don't feel sick? maybe after food, or a glass of milk or something? If not, and this is just a personal opinion, why don't you try some gel on a small area and see what happens? I always do that re. allergies. My dermo says the best place to try anything new is on the inside of your arm.
