Do I have Fibromyalgia?

Hi there~
I have been suffering from migraines for 3 years. No meds work for me, and to make it worse, for the  last 6 months I have been so exhausted all the time. And my body hurts all the time. I am 28, and everyone tells me there is no reason why I should feel like this, unless something was wrong. I have had many blood tests, and all my doctors seem satisfied that nothing is wrong with me. I feel like my life is ending. I become more tired and depressed every day, and I don't know why. What are the symptoms of Fibromylgia? I have an appmt with a Rhuemotologist, but it's in 3 months..feels like a million years away...

Yes this is a symptom because some with fibro experience multiple chemical sensitivity

Check out the symptoms list from the National Fibromyalgia Association and see if you fit in this category.

Pain
The pain of FM is profound, widespread and chronic. It knows no boundaries, migrating to all parts of the body and varying in intensity. FM pain has been described as stabbing and shooting pain and deep muscular aching, throbbing, and twitching. Neurological complaints such as numbness, tingling, and burning are often present and add to the discomfort of the patient. The severity of the pain and stiffness is often worse in the morning. Aggravating factors that affect pain include cold/humid weather, non-restorative sleep, physical and mental fatigue, excessive physical activity, physical inactivity, anxiety and stress.
Fatigue
In today's world many people complain of fatigue; however, the fatigue of FM is much more than being tired. It is an all-encompassing exhaustion that interferes with even the simplest daily activities. It feels like every drop of energy has been drained from the body, which at times can leave the patient with a limited ability to function both mentally and physically.
Sleep problems
Many fibromyalgia patients have an associated sleep disorder that prevents them from getting deep, restful, restorative sleep. Medical researchers have documented specific and distinctive abnormalities in the Stage 4 deep sleep of FM patients. During sleep, individuals with FM are constantly interrupted by bursts of awake-like brain activity, limiting the amount of time they spend in deep sleep.
Other symptoms
Additional symptoms may include: irritable bowel and bladder, headaches and migraines, restless legs syndrome (periodic limb movement disorder), impaired memory and concentration, skin sensitivities and rashes, dry eyes and mouth, anxiety, depression, ringing in the ears, dizziness, vision problems, Raynaud's Syndrome, neurological symptoms, and impaired coordination.

Contact me at ***@**** and I will talk with you. I have pains and alimenmts that I do not have room enough to list here. I will tell you though, that all my labs cames back normal. The doctor said that I must have Fibromyalgia, though because of the length of time that I have been in pain.
I have to care for a disabled daughter, and I cannot have heavy med's to sedate me. I did not take the med's. Can they stop me from helping my daughter, or can they declare me incompident for choosing not to take these med's? I want future proof of my diagnoises before I say -yes, I have it!

Dr. Teitelbaum, who wrote "From Fatigued to Fantastic" has a web site with a test for fibro.  Go to Google to locate his site.  He is a medical doctor who actually has fibro.

Hi Nikki (my daughter's name is Nikki),

I wrote you once and my post did not go through so I am writing again.  Many disorders in the body can cause body pain and fatigue.  In fact, extreme pain can actually be the cause of your fatigue as pain is very stressful on the body, particularly constant pain.

I know, because I have experienced severe body pain and fatigue, as well.  I sought the advice of many physicians, including a Rhuematologist and no one was able to help or diagnose my issue until I was finally diagnosed with Hepatitis C.  I am not implying you have Hep C and knowing your young age, my best guess is that this is not your problem.  Generally, symptoms of Hep C sufferers do not present themselves until one is in their 30's - 40's.   I am not a doctor, but if you do not find resolve through your upcoming Rhuematologist appointment, ask for a specific blood test for Hepatitis C antibodies.

You mentioned that you have had many blood tests and all your doctors seem satisfied that nothing is wrong with you.  General blood panels will not indicate if you have Hepatitis C.  You must ask your doctor (any doctor, even your family physician) to do a specific blood draw to determine if you may have Hepatitis C.  Gastroenterologists are more inclined to consider this blood test than many docs would be but you needn't see a Gastroenteroloigist to request this blood test.

Though you may not have this disease, it is good to confirm that you do not!  Your symptoms are common to Hep C.  Most physicians are still very much in the dark about Hep C and it may not even enter their mind as you describe your symptoms!  People suffer for years with symptoms such as yours when often lifesyle changes can help with the pain and fatigue, once diagnosed properly.

Best to you in finding some answers and realizing relief.  Do not stop in your search!  There is something wrong...you only need to find a doctor who can determine what it is and help you.  Good luck!

You could have a number of different things. Keep your Rhuemotologist appt. dear,
if there's anyone who can shed light, it would be this specialist.

Fibromayalgia has several symtoms. There are trigger points at different sections of your body, food sensitivity, depression,  IBS, and stress will aggrievate all of the afore mentioned. The weather will complicate things also. WebMD  shows you all the trigger points and what to expect. It is treated with anti-inflamatory drugs and anti- depression meds.

I have had Fibromayalgia for at least 10 or more years. You learn to listen to your body or the pain is worse. You can be your own worse enemy sometimes.  I have found that artificial sweetners, milk, and eggs are bad for me. A small incident can
occur and that can trigger a flare up. The pain can be overwhelming, but if I can get at
a place where I can tolerate it, I can go on with my day.

I hope I have helped you. Hang in there! your Dr. appt. will be here before you know it.
