Fibromyalgia & hypothyroidism

Since both conditions share similar symptoms, can an expert tell me if one can have both conditions at the same time, both are more or less the same, are interrelated... or if one has an elevated TSH, this is only a question of the thyroid gland and other endocrine " partners " ??? I appreciate all your possible answer.

I also have both fibro and hypothyroidism.  The thyroid disorder is diagnosed with a simple blood test but unfortunatley there is not a test for fibro.

I actually have both conditions. They are not the same, but share similiar symptoms. An elevated TSH is HYPOthyroidsim. You can have fatigue from both conditions. I have not found any literature to show a direct link that either one causes the other. Some experts feel Fibromyalgia may be an autoimmune disorder like hypothyroidism.  An underactive thyroid is treated with thyroid replacement hormones such as Synthroid. Fibromyalgia has been treated with muscle relaxers such as Flexeril, antidepressants such as Cymbalta, and pain management like gabepentin (Lyrica).  Hope this somewhat helps
