Fibromyalgia Problem

I am from East coast and decided to head west for the winter to see if warmer weather helped my Fibro. I am in Phoenix and have had new problems. My joints started to feel like knives were stabbing into my bones in my legs...my hand and feet started to swell (felt like HOT plates were sitting on them). Walking became difficult, and getting out of bed really hard.
I found out I had low thyroid since being here and Ana test positive. I saw a Rhymotologist yesterday and he ran more test and will let me know Thursday.
Have any of you had the hot hands and swelling on extremities. I have had Fibro for years, but never these problems.
I feel really worn down...so frustrating. Lillie

To me is sounds as if you are experiencing nerve pain. I have complex regional pain syndrome and I have that problem all the time. I have burning pain in all of my extremities. I find when I am having the burn a cool washrag often helps. When the swelling occurs, I usually try to rub them and drink some caffeinated beverage to try to rid myself of the water. I hope this helps, it really sucks to have the burn.

When I get hot and swelling in the feet and hands (with it being hard to walk on them) it's from chemical exposure (to something no one else can detect).  Also,, if I overdue the exercise for a while after.  I'm going to guess it's either something changed in your environment or something in your intake (vitamins, foods) unwittingly.  I also remember getting  a swelling and hard to walk problem when I started OPC (grape seed extract).

The stuff's supposed to improve vein structure and help a lot in some people with the dysautonomia problems.  I've thought maybe it strengthed the vein walls but all that blood pooling now didn't have stretched out veins to go into?  However, that's what makes me think you could have unwittingly changed something you take or eat (even changing brands can do things sometimes.)

For environement, I've known of several people now who did much better at the beach (and were bad off before).  I haven't heard the same thing for warm vs. cold environments.  Dry does seem to be better than high humity too.

I also know someone who figured out a particular pollutant his problems coorelated with, found the national measurements of it by the governement and moved to accordingly and was doing much better.  However, if you generally want to try a new weather pattern you may want to spend a week at the beach and see if you feel any subtle improvements?

I'm rambling but hopeful something in here is helpful.  Good luck!

Hi,

I haven't heard about hot hands, but I do know some experience Raynards ( cold hands).  But definitely low thyroid is a cause of fibro.  So treating it is the first step.  Armour seems to work better in fibro because it treat both t3 and t4.

But swelling in the extremties is a symptom of fibro.
