not sure which caused which, but seems there is a leak. i guess i got cfs diagnosis first, then with some digging, dr also found thyroid problem [now normalised], and this leaky gut. they're related, in that when one system goes down, it places a strain on the next one, and it follows. so i can't say which one went down first. my gastro system has always been less than ideal.
the leaky gut test was a urine test. dr added a reagent, then another reagent a few minutes later. and a few minutes later the test sample discolours to shades of green tinge - which also indicate severity. she did the mixing and testing while i was there. mine was definite but not severe. for that, i;m on slow-release glutamine capsules [and the digestive enzymes] which help the gut lining.
what i've found recently that has really helped reduce the sheer muscular pain, is cutting out dairy - milk and cheese. hate to, but it's a good deal to trade that for reduction in pain. the proteins in the milk completely inflame the auto-immune system. i'm also largely off wheat, but for me, IT WAS THE MILK!!
good luck with i and take care
Did you say that you have Leaky Gut? If so how did you find it and did it cause your CFS and FM?
yes - i have cfs with fibromyalgic symptoms, and also leaky gut. both auto-immune conditions. the leaky gut then causes food absorption to be diminished. so i'm taking bile salt and pancreatic enzyme supplements.
