Fibromyalgia meds, what works?

I have FM over 12years. What I tried for pain in the past may work now because I had Lymes disease, Babesia and mycoplasma all that time.
So far IGENIX labs tests my Lymes is cleared.
With a semi-clean slate, a new Reumatologist tried me on Lyrica, I had side effects and dislike taking therapy meds anyway, so I'm off it.
What does work for all of you?

May I ask what med can irritate your pancreas?
I recently weaned myself off all my meds but the high blood pressure meds.
The reason is that when I did a drug interaction  checker, I had a very long list of possible interactions.
Going off the antidepressant Wellbutrin proved to me it was helping with pain.
My Neurologist changed my pain meds and I am feeling less sick, less pain and they cost less.
Instead of Soma, I'm on Flexeral as needed. Instead of Vicodin I'm on Percocet as needed. I need less of both. I feel more alert.
My Lymes doc put me on a natural antidepressant called Sam-E. This  helps with pain, depression and liver to keep it healthy.
I'm glad the Trazadone is helping you. I have to look up Liapase Enzyme. If your doc hasn't yet tested you for Lymes and it's coinfections, ask for that to be done.

Thanks! I actually just started Trazadone about a month ago, and I like it a lot.
I also take Lexapro for my depression and I really like it too. :) I've been going to the doctors lately, we're thinking that it may not be Fybro at all. It may be that my Liapase enzymes are messed up. We're checking in to it. I also once took Cymbalta... but for me, the Lexapro works much better. Although, one of my meds may be causing me to have re-occurring Pancreatitis. So we're also looking into that. Hope we find something soon. Anyways, Thanks phtartist!

Hi Luv, the doctor I hope specified the kind of exercise which gives you benefit from FM. It has been confirmed by several doctors that aerobic exercise is the best. Weights, and muscle work can exasperate our symptoms.
There is one med that I have heard directly from people that works on depression, pain and helps sleep....Trazadone.
Cymbalta is an FDA approved medicine for Fibromyalgia (FM), anxiety, and pain. It works on keeping Serotonin (mood) where it is needed and Norepinephrine which works on pain chemicals to stay in the brain where needed.
I think I'm going to try it again, or Trazadone. When I first took Cymbalta I did not know I was in the throws of Lymes disease. I took it for three years but even though it helped, I thought it was side effects I was having when, in actuality it may have been the Lymes.

I tried to take Lyrica for a year but it didn't help at all. Once we hit the maximum dosage, I just told my doctor to take me off because it was useless for me to take something that didn't help. He said that was pretty much the only medicine out there for fibro, so all was left was exercise and just to deal with the pain. If you find anything that works, let me know, because I've been suffering for three years with no meds.

Hi, I'm from the U.S.
I'm only on pain meds now.
From Lymes disease, I was on antibiotics for a year and developed systemic yeast infection which made everything worse.
My BP went up, and my doc took it too casually. 196/102 is no joke.
Five months later I found a doc that helped me.
Wellbutrin is not working with the pain meds, so I feel sick with or without them.
One good thing the yeast infection is clearing and I have some good days.
NOW, life's big joke on me, I really can only laugh LOL.....I got bitten by a tick two weeks ago. GEES

Hi, do you live in the US or Canada?  I live in Canada.  I take Tramadol for long term pain.  Tramacet for break through pain.  My main FM med is Topiramate (an anti-seizure medication).  I take Trazadone for sleeping along with Elavil at night to aid with sleep and pain.  I have a lot of problems with IBS so I take meds for that also.  There that is my med file.  I also am on Thyroid medication.

I have been taking Savella 100 mg 2xday which helps with my tenderness to touch which was a huge problem for me. The Lyrica also had terrible side effects for me too, I havnt noticed much with the Savella except nausea when I don't eat w/it.

That is absolutely the best thing you can do.  Also it doesn't hurt to call around and interview docs.  I found my amazing doc 8 yrs ago that way

I really appreciate you responding. I've been through the gammit with docs throwing scripts my way and sending me home for a month or two.
I need to learn some options, study them and then work WITH the doctors.
Thank you!

As you well know every one is different, but here is my list.
Ambien 10mg at night, Zanaflex 4 mg 1-3 PRN, Tramadol 25 mg Mild pain, Lortab 5mg Severe pain, Oxaprozin 500 mg 2 X a day, Magnesium, Malic acid, B12, Acai berry, D3

The Ambien, and Oxaprozin are the 2 prescription meds I take every day.  The others as needed.

I was diagnosed in 2000 and it has just been within the last few years that we have really gotten a great mix.
