Getting off of the Ultram ER

Hi all;
   Well, I decided to get off of the Ultram ER. I noticed last week that I felt ill after taking them and that is not exceptable.My doc has me taking 200mg  twice a day and I stopped taking the night time med on Monday night. So far I feel pretty good, a little tummy trouble and mild cramps in my arms but nothing really bad. I cold turkeyed off of 10/650 Hydro 3 x a day. 350mg Soma 3 x a day, and 1800mg Nuerontin a day, and tossed them all at once 2 1/2 years ago. I had 5 pretty ugly days but then I started feeling so much better.

  I am going to continue taking the norco 10/325 until I get off of the Ultram. I am tired of taking all of these meds and still be hurting, so I need to get my system clean and see where I stand then. I do know that it is not working this way and it's time to maybe go in another direction. I stopped taking the Restoril as well. If I need a little help with sleep, I'll take a couple of Advil PM. So far I have been sleeping pretty good.

   So throw some prayers my way, and I will continue to let you all know how it goes. I don't like the feeling of being over medicated. Yuk!!

gentle hugs to you all

Angel -

You take all the time you need.  We know you'll return as soon as you feel up to it.  It's important to take care of YOU right now and we'll be praying for you.  I'm so happy that your family is with you to take care of you.  Hang in there my friend.

Caroline - I have the same problem with cholestrol meds.  I was first put on Lipitor and began having spasms in my foot.  The doc. didn't think it was related, but I stopped taking it and then reintroduced it.  It then caused tingling spasms from my foot to my calf.  I've been off of it for a while now, but the symptoms remain.  I guess that's part of our Multiple Sensitivity issues that come with FMS/CFS.  Please let me know if you find something suitable to take that doesn't cause those awful side-effects.

Good Morning
You'll certainly be in my prayers. I am proud of you for your courage to try something new.  I stopped taking the predisone about 1and half months ago. I lowered my cymbalta back to original dose and I feel the same. Keep your head  up and try and feel good.

Hugs

Good morning;
   This is day 1 so I'll know tonight how bad the w/ds will be. I really don't expect it to get too bad, but if it does I have my family here and plenty of Ensure and crackers and soup. I may not be up to posting this weekend so I will wish you all a safe weekend now.

Angel, I wish you the best. I don't blame you for trying something different, especially if you feel it wasn't helping you. My doctor has always been conservative about prescribing pain meds and even other meds. I am having trouble finding a cholesterol drug that I can take without side effects. I really think that fibro affects our body chemistry so much that we often have many more or unusual side effects to a lot of drugs. I hope you find something that works for you very soon.

You know you will be in my prayers.

I do understand what you mean about taking so many meds and not getting relief.  I often feel the same way.  I stopped taking everything except the Ultram (for CRS) and my sleep medication (which I can't do without).  All that other stuff...I tossed it out.  It's not worth the side-effects caused.

Be safe and hope you feel better soon.
