Time to straight up ask for what works for u hun or what u've heard helps with fm pain. Greatest blessings to u *hugs*
Right now I'm seeing a neurologist. I was referred to him by my Primary Care Dr. here. My Primary Care Dr. in my other state before we moved started me out on tylenol 3 and that didn't work then she put me on vicodin, and it worked fine. Being military and moving and switching Dr.'s is stressful, because everyone has an opinion on how you should be treated. It's not fair to me! I'm afraid to just tell my neuro. this for some reason. When I have Dr. appt's I just tell them how I feel and trust they will put me on the correct med, but apparently that's not working. I have never straight up asked for any specific medicine.
I would let your new doctor know that the Lyrica is causing you side effects that you just cannot handle (list them and make sure you are quantitative about them) and that your old medication was working just fine. Tell him that the medication change has been a disruption in your life and has increased your pain and you are experiencing more pain as a result and are having trouble completing daily tasks that are required of you. Do you have access to a doctor that specialized in Pain Management rather than a normal PCP? If so, you may consider seeing one if this one doesn't cooperate.
I understand where ur commin from. There are so many side effects to that harmful drug that they can't list them all and have u go to a website for a "complete list of side effects". Anyway, just wanted to throw that in. The first two weeks of taking lyrica I felt "high". Just like I was stoned. Then that eventually went away and the spacey-forgetfullness began. It helped with my nexk pain but did nothing for my leg pain and the nerve damage in them. My pain management dr prescribed it to me for FM and nerve damage pain. I hope u feel better. *hugs*
I've been on it for a month now. I was taking it once a day at night. It wasn't doing anything for my pain and so he uped it to twice a day. So I when I take it in the morning, I can't even imagine taking it at night. I just can't take it twice a day! It's too much!! I have three kids and my husband is deployed. I can't wait and see if it works or if the nasty side effects go away. My throat also gets very dry and feels like a lump is in it. I recently have felt some pain in my chest. I'm not going to take it anymore. Oh and my front teeth feel slightly numb. It's been a month and I can't do this anymore!
How long have you been on the Lyrica? I'm just about to start it. I was told it will take about 3 weeks to see a difference and my pharmacist told me I should take it about an hour before bed to help lower the hangover effect in the morning. He also said that the spaciness and tiredness will get better after a few weeks.
