I want to get off lyrica

Hi everyone. I hope that you are all feeling well today.
Question: Does anyone else have trouble healing? I have a lot of wounds  (I work in a pet clinic), and they take a really long time to heal and leave scars. Also I am on cymbalta, lyrica, ambien, and still i feel crappy all the time. I feel better then what I did....but still find it hard to function and work full time. Does anyone have any advice? I am in dire need.

Thank you every one! I do have an accupuncturist that seems to be helping. I do want to get off the lyrica but everytime that I try I am in too much pain. I am on the max dose of that right now, and am on 120 mg of cymbalta. My memory is not what it used to be and I am gaining to much weight (not that I am that vain as to be skinny and in alot of pain, then as to be plump and pain free), but I just feel like there are alot of side effects that I do not like. I am 27 years old and feel like I am to young not to work and to "fight" this thing. But I am just too exhausted and in a lot of pain.
Thank you all for your advice.

Oh, sorry but I forgot to say one thing.  I'm on Cymbalta,  cannot take Lyrica because during all those therapies I was put on Neurontin and Lyrica is FROM the Neu. family and it too messed up my vision, speech and handwriting.  I'm suprised they have you on both!   No wonder you're a mess!   Get off the lyrica,  you need to read the sides for Cymbalta, I just take a 60 mg EVERY OTHER DAY and I'm much better.  I take 10 other meds see my profile and the Cymbalta has helped but I still have the hips and shoulder tender points.  I can't believe you're working with all that.  I'm disputing my Dis. denial for the 4th time with a high-powered lawyer.

As far as SS Dis. and Fybro.  the forms say clearly,  their eval. panel does not necessarily have to adhere to what your drs. say.  They most likely will force you to retain a lwyr and don't worry if you do,  the fees are pre-prepared and assigned and if you are awarded, the SS pays them off the top of your award,  not you to them  so don't worry about that.  You didn't have the money so you won't miss it.

I'm new to this site, just found it today, however,  I've had Severe Fybro since 5/12/02.  I went through a whole battery of about 10 drs. and various PT for herniated 5-6, 6-7,  and pain mgt,  and being told it was all in my head, oh, yeah,  and finally last year  along with 3 other major surgeries I finally found a wonderful Neurosurgeon who very kindly put in a Titanium Peek spacer and voila, no more numbness, pain, whatever.  He did tell my family that "if she had waited 6 more mos, she would have lost 50% usage of her neck and 1/2 of the trouble didn't show up on the MRI which is about average.  THEN, this year, I had to have both shoulders operated on for Distal Clavicle Resections, Left one was mortal Hell but great now,  Rt, one giving me even more trouble because of bad osteo-arthritis and bone on bone now at back of shoulder.  NOW,   I just nearly literally died last Wednesday had I not heeded the signs and symptoms of what I thought (trained in CPR/AED)  was a mini-heart attack but when I arrived at the ER they wisked me in when I presented with none other than:  a PULMONARY EMBOLISM!   That's right, it originated in my leg and traveled to my rt. upper lung and is inoperable!  Now on Oxy at home with shots of Lovenox and being weaned to Coumadin.   Such fun we're having!   Anybody with anything similar and I would really appreciate it if I'm not degraded, belittled or put down or minimized about this!  I should be in the ground folks!

Listing treatments would be so very helpful.  It seems anything I try is not even touching the surface, but I keep on experimenting. It gets extremely expensive and frustrating. Fibromyalgia affects every system and cell of your body and I just can't seem to get it under control along with many others. Treating hormone and adrenal gland insufficiences along with metal toxicities, are all steps to help, but I feel like something is missing.  I am going to ask my natural healthcare practitioner about pathogens. I also read Dr. Shaw's info. and it definitely sounds like me...multisystem failure!
I appreciate all the info and find Medhelp to be great as it allows us all to support each other.

Thanks again

Hi ! There are other treatments for fibromyalgia... other than the standard pharmaceutical prescriptions.

I'm currently working with MedHelp to find out if we can list various fibromyalgia and CFS treatments on our health pages (look to the right of your screen). Feel free in the meantime to view my complete profile with my website address on there. My website is not a commercial website and I list all of that information on there.

Also.. we may have a guest physician answering our questions here for an hour or so. I'll keep everyone posted ! ; ^ )

Have you looked into natural alternatives? A number of people have found more relief seeing a naturopath or certified natural healthcare practitioner. I use a combination of natural herbs and prescription medication, but I do hope to get my fibro under better control naturally and get rid of the prescription drugs all together someday.
Drugs have so many side effects. I have never tried Lyrica, although I have a prescription for it. Like I said, I am trying to relieve the pain naturally. It takes more patience to do things naturally as the effects may not be apparent immediately, but it is healthier for your body.
If you decide to look into alternative medicine, make sure the person is reputable, educated, and experienced.
