So, I have fibro, newly diagnosed.  I have had stomach "issues" for years now.  But they come and go.  Now they are back.  But, I want to know if it can be IBS, though I do not have diarrhea OR constipation.  I used to have constipation ALL THE TIME, but no anymore.  I just have bloating, stomach cramps, fullness feeling, no appetite, and losing weight at record speed.  Does this sound like IBS?  Thank you :)

Well, don't know what else to think.  I have had a billion blood tests and they all say something different, so, who knows?  You answered my questions on Celiac well enough.... TO be continued......

You can be gluten intolerant and not necessarily have celiac disease!
Do a search to find out the difference or let me know and I'll answer it for you another time.
I know, one of the hardest things to do, is to go gluten free!
Why do you think I mentioned it?
Also you may want to do an Intestinal Permeability Test at this point,
unless you had it done already.

The ssDNA test seems a bit controversial, as negative or positive findings are inconclusive regarding autoimmune disease investigation (sle, scleroderma and rheumatic diseases. The controversy is with the diagnostic value of the testing due to its nonspecificity.
Clinicians are like judges and attorneys; they want100% proof, beyond any reasonable doubt. And I can't blame them. Misdiagnosis can be far more dangerous than nondiagnosis- and a cause for malpractice lawsuits.

As far as Celiac, did you mean the testing?
Let me know.

Take care,
Niko

You are very good with your memory!  Ummm.... On the autoimmune forum, I posted that I had a positive ANA, and my dr. diagnosed me with lupus, but in the grey area.  But, I called the dr back and asked what the actual test was, because she mentioned that it was a different test.  So my curiosity caused me to call the dr and her nurse said the test was a SSDNA test.  If it is higher than 25, then they consider you to have lupus, but not text book lupus, by symptoms and the test make them conclude lupus.  Now my "rate" I guess you call it is 41.  So, therefore I "have" lupus.

But, not that I have done much research, I wonder if I may have Celiac instead.  I don't know if I was tested, but I have just been thinking about.  Since I have this stomach issue.  My General doc keeps bringing up acid reflux before I have had that in the past.  But I know acid reflux, and this isn't it.  I don;t have problems in my espophagus.  I have problem in my abdomen.  I don't know, but I have an appt with the GI doc at the end of the month, and a follow-up with my rheumy.  She took additonal blood tests, so I'll see what she found out.

I haven't had much Italian food lately.  Mainly baked chicken, fish, veggies.  But, for breakfast, I always have bagels or oatmeal and yogurt.  And lunch, just depends..... Carbs are hard to drop.  Very.  But, should I need to, I will, with much effort.  And gluten-free hasn't even been a thought since as of now, I do not have Celiac.  So, anyway, I appreciate your input and knowledge.

Let me know what you think about the ssDNA test, if anything, and Celiac.  I appreciate it.

Hi Alison.

IBS same as Fibromyalgia are catch-all medical labels that
include a variety of symptoms and without a confirmed cause,
nor a cure. Of course the conventional medical system has come up with a
suggested treatment protocols to manage these "syndromes".
Yes, your symptoms do sound like IBS.
Your rapid weight loss is of concern though.
Gluten intolerance could be an issue. I know you like your italian food
pizza, pasta, bread, but if you could endure 2 weeks of very low carb diet
with no sugars, no grains, then you could switch to a gluten-free diet
for 2 weeks, only if you are feeling better. If you are feeling better on the
gluten-free diet then it is likely you have a gluten intolerance.
If not better on the gluten -free diet, then it indicates perhaps a Candida overgrowth problem or other intolerance.

I just have a strong feeling that if you could go on a specific carbohydrate diet (SCD) and Candida diet, most of your symptoms would collapse.
Just do a search for the SDC program.
It is tough to adhere though, as it is similar to getting off an addictive drug! So you might need extra discipline and mental toughness.
And if you need support, just ask!
Those carbs can become drugs in the body (Gladiorhine and Gluten Exorphines) and mimicking opiate drugs like heroin.  Aooch!
This is in IBS, leaky gut, gut dysbiosis candida and GAPS conditions-
which are all related by the way!

You mentioned that you had been checked for hyperthyroidism and diabetes, I believe. Going by memory, so excuse my wrong assumption if not accurate. Did you get any testing for Homocysteine levels and B12?
I think, mentioned in my last post.

Don't mean to be a pest, but you are young , you have a family
and you deserve better health. If one of my suggestions works for you,
it may make a huge difference in your health status eventually.
Let me know if you need more details.
Cheers.
Niko
