There is some very good info. in our Health Pages regarding the validity of Fibro.  You could print this out and take it to him during your next visit.

Drs. often get frustated as well by not knowing how to treat our variety of symptoms, however, this is no excuse to dismiss your pain.  You may ask him for a clarification as to what type of "cycle" he believes fibro is.  If this particular doc. feels it's psychosomatic, you may want to find someone who has more familiarity with this illness.

Get well soon Nana.

YES, fibromyalgia is REAL!  Check out this link at Dr. Mercola's website http://search.mercola.com/Results.aspx?q=fibromyalgia&k=fibromyalgia.  As you can see, there is a lot of information here about fibromyalgia, and one of the most recent articles has the answer to your question.  The pain is NOT "in your head", like so many doctors have told their patients.  The problem is that pharmaceuticals are dangerous, yet the pain is so bad that patients just want to be relieved of the intense pain and are willing to try just about anything, including taking the pharmaceuticals.  This is a page full of articles about fibromyalgia and CFS.  He says they're the same thing.  At this point, I don't care if they're the same or different myself, because I just want relief myself.
