Is Serotonin Irritational Syndrome real?

Is serotonin irritational syndrome real?

I have been struggling with a wide range of painful and debilitating symptoms since early June. These include extreme joint pain, especially in my hips; muscles weakness and tenderness, especially in arms/upper torso; chronic sore throat and inflammation; and extreme fatigue, among other things.

I was referred to a rheumatologist. All of my bloodwork came back good, so he started treating me for Fibro with Savella. On day 4 of the titration pack (first day of taking a 25mg pill in the morning) I developed Serotonin Syndrome and was admitted to the ER - I was not taking any other meds so there wasn't any interaction to have caused it.

This left me with the assumption that either my serotonin levels are naturally pretty high, or that my reuptake is already more than adequate. The doc switched me to Lyrica but so far there has been no improvement, i'm just dizzy and confused a lot. So I started reading about serotinin to see if having "too much" could be at the root of my symptoms.

I came across a few articles on Serotonin Irritational Syndrome, but I can't tell whether it's legit or not. To your knowledge, is this condition real? Could it cause my pain issues?

Serotonin irritation syndrome is real and it is different from that caused by medication. It is especially precipitated by positive ions caused by weather patterns and can cause pains such as coronary artery spasm or muscle pain, headache.  A supplement,5 hydroxy tryptophan which is a precursor to serotonin, should not be taken by people with sufficient serotonin.Doctors prescribe meds just because they are purported to help a particular disorder without understanding how they will affect a person's neurotransmitters.

SIS is also known as hyperserotonemia or serotonergic syndrome, is a potentially life-threatening condition in which there is an excess of serotonin in the central nervous system. It is directly related to high doses of serotonergic drugs. There is no known antidote to serotonin syndrome. Treatment consists of discontinuing the offending medication(s) and administering care to control the symptoms. Serotonin antagonists such as cyproheptadine or methysergide may be given as well as benzodiazepines, which can relieve muscle rigidity. Once medication is stopped the issue usually resolves itself once it is cleared from the body. Good luck to you.
