Jaw pain?

Does anyone suffer from lower jaw pain? I have intermittent pain on both sides of my lower jaw but chewing doesn't make the pain worse.

Hi Nickie.  How are you doing?  How is this pain?  Is it any better?

Hi. It's all still the same! Jaw, chest, arm, shoulder. I was hoping after 3 years I'd just get used to it but it's still very frustrating and sometimes scary!
I feel for you.  I'm sure this is indeed quite frustrating.   I personally would consider getting treated for TMJ in case this is indeed the case.  Have you considered that?

Hi there.  This just started?  In all honesty, I think this is important to get checked out. There is a variety of things that can case lower jaw pain.  First, you need to make sure your teeth are okay!  Yes, on both sides.  You have to rule out something going on with that.  Then TMJ comes to mind.  And even your heart can be involved with lower jaw pain. Here is an article to read.  But the one that would concern me to immediately rule out is a cardiovascular reason.  Women in particular can have lower left jaw pain during a heart attack.  Now, I know this isn't presenting exactly that way for you but still is worth checking out.  If you have any other symptoms with it like shortness of breath or chest discomfort, please go to the ER.

The one thing that I think is fairly common is nerve compression called Trigeminal neuralgia.  This is a big reason we get jaw pain.

Does ibuprofen help the pain?  What about massage to the area?

And with all that being said. fibro and jaw pain is very common because of tmj or Temporomandibular joint disorder.  Your doctor will likely be really familiar with the correlation.

Do you do any supplements like magnesium or calcium?

Here is an article that talks about treatments of TMJ. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/tmj/diagnosis-treatment/drc-20350945  I think it would be worth working with a physical therapist that has treated jaw pain like this before.  And medication can be very helpful.

Thanks so much for the response! This has been going on for a little over 3 years now! It started back then with chest and arms/shoulder pain which resulted in many doctors appointments and an ER visit. They did multiple EKGs, an echo with a stress test and blood work. I left being told it wasn't my heart but wasn't given any answers.
I was told by one doctor that I had fibromyalgia and another doctor said he didn't think so. So, I've basically been in limbo.
It's definitely caused me so much anxiety because as you mentioned these are heart symptoms for women. I guess I can safely rule that out as it's gone on for so long now although it's still in the back of my mind sometimes. The doctor mentioned TMJ but everything I've read says that causes pain with chewing which isn't something I experience. The pain is localized to the back lower corner on both sides and just comes on for no apparent reason.
I do take Calcium, Vitamin D but not magnesium.
