Just diagnosed with Fibro. after thinking I was crazy!!!

After two months of various symptoms that started with a traumatic event with my PREVIOUS doctor I was diagnosed by a Army neurologist with Fibro. and will have a appt. with a Rhumtd. doctor hopefully in a week for confirmation.  Before I got in I just started Topamax for pain I've been having primarily face pain, headaches, aching in upper jaw ( maxillary) but, this was given to me by a PA on a low dose,  the neuro. is starting me on nortryptilyn.  I know everyone is different, but has anyone used Topamax for Fibro?  I need something for the chronic pain, that sometimes feels flu like, all over, but I have to be alert and function with two kids, and want something for depression.  I am having my thyroid labs done also, since I have thyroid disease as well.  My traumatic event was my PREVIOUS DOCTOR gave me a steroid shot, that supressed my thyroid hormone, while I was taking thyroid medication, made my body like having double doses, caused me to have shortness of breath for two weeks and chest pains and SHE said it was in MY head!  Thank goodness for other doctors in my life to see this, well in the middle of the crisis is when various aches started, which my Endo. for my thyroid said it was not my thyroid, since my thyroid had gotten back under control.  Went back to my PREVIOUS doctor who accused me of taking her time, and when this was all over, that we would have a long talk!  So I was forced in the middle of all this to find a new doctor, who did his best to find a solution, but was only seeing a PA at the time treating me for migraines or tension headaches when they weren't either and were not going away, but even he was upset when I requested a specialist.  Only adding to depression for me.  What a roller coaster.

I think you may still have thyroid issues going on.

No I didn't have lyme ruled out.  I thought the topamax was helping but now the other medicine kicked in and it's making me worse.

Have you had lyme disease ruled out?  It can cause the symptoms you described.  Plus steroids worsen lyme.
