Thanks for the answers I will check out websites. And no I've had man, many, many..........Rx filled there before. Sometimes I feel like I live at Dr. offices and pharmacy between myself and my two children. (LOL)
I also have to show id when i get Lyrica.
The showing of ID depends on your pharmacy and location and possibly controlled drug. There is alot of insurance abuse going on and many doctors are even asking for ID's now before they will even see you. So just keep in mind alot of ID showing is to prevent insurance fraud. People are desperate and are resorting to all sorts of things.
Why is it a controlled substance, I dont' know exactly but it is a form of Pain Relief. and as someone mentioned in another post, it effects the Central Nervous System. Also, it could could also be abused by dependant individuals. I am on it too and it has been a life saver for my seizures. Does make you really sleepy so be careful adding other meds that cause drowsiness. Can also cause swelling in gums and hands and feet. so if that occurs, contact you doctor. I went to my dentist thinking I had a bad infection in my gum. Was put on Clindimyacin which is a very high potency drug. THe anitbiotic caused another problem in my esphagus which requires another very high potency antibiotic to fix the esphagus. Come to find out I did not even have an infection after all. Just my lyrica. So if you have dental problems contact your doctor before the dentist while takeing lyrica. .
I've never had to show ID to get my lyrica. Was that your first time getting a prescription there? If you are really concerned you should speak to the dr. that put you on the medication. Lyrica has a website, Lyrica.com. I hope the website can answer your questions and make you feel at ease.
I would think that it's controlled because it effects the Central Nervous System. It doesn't have addictive properties though, if that is a concern.
The pharmacy may have asked for your ID if you haven't had prescriptions filled there before.
