Meds - Weight Gain I can't get rid of

I have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, biopolar II disorder about 2 years ago and recently was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I'm on multiple medications for all three and in the past two years I've gained between 40-50lbs. It's nuts. I have gone on weight watchers, I watch all my food and track it, I eat healthy and I cannot lose any weight. I'm trying to get some excercise in (treadmill) but my feet and hips are so painful I barely crawl out of bed in the am. Does ANYONE know of anything I can do??? I weigh over 200lbs and that is just horrid. I am ready to try diet aids at this point. I've not done that due to the amount of meds I take. But I don't want diabeties either. Can anyone help? Is there a prescription diet aid I could take for a short period of time???

Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the advice and tips. I appreciate it. My docs have said the same thing. Start with stretching, gentle exerces and work up to a more regular work out. Still being sane about not pushing things too fast. I've done that in the past too. Hired a personal trainer and after 3 sessions my back, hips and shoulder were so bad I couldn't do anything. I've pretty much heard that due to the meds - it's going to be an uphill battle. It's just very frustrating. There are some new meds out there for fibromyalgia - however your insurance company won't cover it until you've tried pretty much every other option first. I work with my doc closely on these meds so we do have a good handle on things. I told him once I wanted to go off every med to see what it would be like. He wasn't really supportive of that idea.

I'll just keep looking. It's just been a long couple of years and I feel like I've been in the ring with Tyson (except I still have both ears) and gone a few rounds with him. One thing after another.

Thanks again for your suggestions and good will. I appreciate it!

Don't try any diet aids, as they may interact with your prescription meds.  Do talk to your docs about your meds, many of the meds that are prescribed for these diagnoses cause weight gain, and no matter what you do, will cause you to have difficulty losing weight.  Discuss your goals with your doc & see if they can point you in a good direction.  Also, once your thyroid is more stable, some weight will come off.

Try things like simple yoga stretches (not the 'pretzel' ones!), also, if you have access to a pool, try water walking (you actually use more calories in the water because you are working against the resistance of the water, but, since you lose 90% of your body weight in the water, it's super easy on your joints!).

It really, truly, most unfortunately, boils down to 'calories in/calories out'.  Keeping a journal or log is helpful, keep doing that.  I have recently run across this lady & her website (www.reasonablediet.com) that has some great information & great ideas, too ( I think there is still a free mini book you can download on there, that explains part of her process).

Keep on keepin' on!!  You can do this.
Best wishes!
