Newly diagnosed- Meds?

I am kinda new to all this fibro stuff, although I've suspected I've had for a while. (Not depression or anxiety as was pushed by other Dr.s).   My main problem besides the all over achiness/ stiffness, exhaustion, is sleep.  I was taking melatonin for a while but went off of it because the bottle said to take a break from it.  It worked pretty well some of the time, but I'd still have some sleepless, dreamless nights. My rh. Doc who is working with me on this(FINALLY)has suggested trying Rozerem.  I am wondering if any one else has tried this and what they thought about it.  All i know and have come to realize is that my days depend on what kind of nights I've had. I am dead-tired, exhausted and so sore if I don't sleep. I really wonder if that is what fibro is all about..no deep sleep, no healing of the body and brain, equals feeling like poop on a stick. Makes me wonder about all those other conditions like depression and anxiety, only it's showing up differently.  It would be interesting to do a survey and see how many people with those disorders actually started out sleep deprived as well...  Makes one think.  Missi

I take Cymbalta 90mg, was taking 120, but was getting what the dress called the shocks, so got cut back.  So it's not helping much anymore.  I'm am a depressant and anxious person, and cybalta is suppose to help with that,  but it don't.  I've tried gabapentin, amatryptalin, noratryptalin, elevil, and they all made me like a zombie.  Now I'm just taking Cymbalta still not working,  trazado to sleep,  it helps, but nothing for pain, because my dr wants me to go to therepy, and I'm not going.  Been there done that.  Yoga, walling,  I just feel worse after. And can't function for a couple days.  So I just deal with the pain on a daily basis.  It sux. Plus I have chronic migraines so I take topomax and get 3mo botón injections just to function from daily headaches.  On top of all that,  I take daily Valium because if I didn't I might choke someone lol
Best of luck to you all

I am now taking Rozerem (sp?) and I really like it. I was taking trazadone for a long time. I like the new one because it doesn't hit me really hard it is very slow to relax you and I am sleeping alot better!

Hello...I also have terrible trouble sleeping, mostly because I am hurting all over and I can't get comfortable (my neck kills me most of the time).  I have taken Ambien in the past and I loved it. It knocked me out in about 20 minutes. I actually had to be on my way to bed because I would fall asleep so fast.  I stopped it because I had a baby and had to be up at night.  Right now, I am only taking (for the Fibro in general) Robaxin, which is a muscle relaxer that I like a lot, and I just started Mirapex and it seems to be working already for the aches, etc.  I am still exhausted...

I've taken Elavil, Ambien (didn't work), Ambien CR (works but too expensive), Lunesta (now taking - 3 mg) and it's okay. The cymbalta also helps with sleep (a little). I also take Klonopin for the anxiety. I take Mobic for inflammatory and it really doesn't do anything for me.

Anyone take anything that actually works?

Winter is excruciating for me, and it gets worse every year.  The fatigue is to the point it becomes hard to function.

I agree with you.  I has diagnosed 15 years ago with fibro.  If you don't sleep, you don't function.  Winter is the worst thou.  I take elavil for sleep.  You have to built up a tolerance to it.  It also stopped most of my headaches.  Good Luck with your new medication and let us know how it works out.
