Now hand and finger pain?

I have had fibromyalgia for the last two years and I started to develop another symptom that is really strange. Since I started exercising again when I wake up in the middle of the night I cannot bend my fingers and my hand is in alot of pain. Usually by morning when I'm moving around more they start to loosen up and I don't have any pain. I do notice when I do any exercise with my arms and shoulders my hands and fingers hurt. Anyone else had this problem?

I was playing around (in the middle of the night because I couldn't sleep lol) and came up w/a few options that might work for you.  You could try modified plank, using your forearms to support you.  If that feels too easy after regular plank, you could add 'hover' where you come down to an inch off the floor & hold it.  For pushups, you could try holding onto weights versus putting your hands flat on the floor, or try those 'perfect pushup' things that basically work the same way.  If that still makes your hands hurt too much (it did mine, but my pain is more in the palm), try doing a pushup off of a counter or coffee table.  It won't be as intense, but the hand pressure is not as severe with the elevation, so you should be able to get more reps.
Hope this helps a little.  Hang in there!

Great feedback! I will make sure my doctor does some more tests. Although the cutting out different foods is not an option because I am recovering from an eating disorder that I've had for 25 years and I have osteoporis now too. But , all in all, I have had wonderful feedback from this site. Thank you both.

as jellylegs says.
it sounds like some joint pain w wrist and fingers (compared w skin and musclular pain?), so a good dr or rheumatologist might have some clues. don't overtrain or force anything, it doesn't help. some stretching and routines that help maintain range of movement and flexibility are beneficial. just please don't pound your inflamed joints, it's damaging. if you find warm packs or cold packs help, do that.
i had moderately inflamed knuckles/ hands and i found cutting out milk and dairy [butter ok] really helped reduce the stiffness. if you gave it a go, the results should show within a week.
good luck

You could have some type of inflammatory arthritis, insist on getting the proper tests. Half the time fibromyalgia is only a cop out diagnosis when doctors dont try hard enough to get people a proper diagnosis, thats my opinion anyways because it happened to me.

Couldn't hurt to ask your doc.  I'm kinda stumped on this one, other than it being another perk of FMS!  I do know I have days where the palm of one hand hurts when I press it on anything, making things like plank difficult.  Good luck, & feel free to message me if you want!

Thanks for answering. I do not grasp on to the weights tightly. I always let them relax. Even when I go walking my fingers will not bend and they are in pain. I tried to do the "plank" and my wrists didn't seem like they wanted to bend and were painful. I can't even do push-ups because of pain in my wrists. If I sit still for a while they become stiff and painful and I can barely bend them. I think I'm going to have to go to see my doctor about this because it seems to be getting worse.

I'm a personal trainer that has had fibro for about 4-6 months.  One of my hands has some sort of tendinitits in it that the fibro has made worse.  I have trouble sometimes gripping the weight in that hand, especially when it is heavy.  At night a lot of times I don't really have additional pain in my hands but I do have increased stiffness in the joints and often a numbing, tingly feeling.  Are you using your hands to grip weights and/or exercise machines when this happens, or does it happen even when doing exercises that don't require gripping?
