Well folks it seems that I may have found the right combination of meds to manage/control this pain. I am taking Cymbalta 60mgs twice daily, Lyrica 75mg twice daily, Skelaxin three times a day, Vicodin three times a day and AmbienCR 12.5mg at bedtime. The only problem now is keeping the IBS down which requires cleaning out the colon every few days. Ruthy66, Maybe this could help for you to try some of the above meds. Everything doesn't work for everybody but it may be worth a try. I hope everything works out for you.
Thanks for the suggestions. I see my Dr in a couple of weeks so hopefully I can hold up until then. I've been taking gravol almost every night for the past week because I'm getting so nauseated at night. I feel like I have the flu or something which I know is typical of Fibro. I just want something to knock me out so I can at least get sufficient sleep.
I see that someone has suggested a muscle relaxer in my reasearch I found that the only thing that an anti inflamitory should be used for in fibro patients is if you have costocondritis which is inflamation of the cartalige where the ribs meet the breast that is the ONLY inflamation involved with fibro I suggest if you are really suffering you tell your Dr you NEED a pain killer and if your really bad a narcotic.
It sounds like you are having a severe flareup. Your lack of restorative sleep is not helping your body at all. If over the counter meds. aren't helping, you should contact your physician so that he/she can prescribe something that will help you rest. We all realize how important the role of good sleep is to these illnesses....without it we hurt so much worse. Maybe your doc. would prescribe a muscle relaxer, but it seems that it's so difficult to get them to pay attention to our pain (with FMS). They seem reluctant to give us what we need in order to cope.
I feel for you and hope you are better soon.
Thank you for your comment! I'm on the lowest does of Metformin right now but I think it may have to be upped in order to work. PCOS is a hormonal imbalance and sometimes Metformin has shown that it helps regulate cycles but so far it hasn't really worked. I'll keep at it and hopefully see some improvement soon ortherwise I'll have to try hormone therapy or say "goodbye" to having children.
i am sorry i don't really have any advice for pain relief....i won't take pain meds and all i will take is motrin 800mg which helps very little...i do take metformin for diabetes and it makes me feel like i have the stomach flu everyday...so if you have ibs then it may be upsetting your stomach even worse because it kills me...but i have tried others and they all lower my blood sugar too much..i do not know what pcos...but i take it for type 2 diabetes...
