I'm glad you had a little relief. It was not sedating to me at all and that is saying something because everything makes me tired!
Make sure you give it the a full try. Meds like Savella take 4-6 weeks to get the full effects. (unless you have serious side effects, obviously)
Here's to better days!

I have pain in my feet, fingers, wrists, hips, knees and back. I took the first pill last night. I became extremely sleepy within anhour of taking it and then had a slight case of the "runs" this morning, however, the pain in my hands feet, & knees was better until around 4pm today. I did feel somewhat sedated, though not sleepy. I'm an Asst. Principal at a NYC Elementary School. I've been unusually grumpy at lunch duty with the 4th and 5th graders this week, however, today nothing phased me. I didn't raise my voice at all. I called everyone "sweetheart" and "darling", even when they fought. Even when the students were bombarding me, I just calmly said, "I'm not having this discussion today" in a very soft voice. This probably sounds great but I'm not sure I want to feel like this everyday. I will see how I do tomorrow.

What kind of pain are you taking it to get rid of. I have FM and take Savella. It works well for me. I used to get a lot of random "bee sting" pains before taking it. It works well on the parathesias. The achy muscle pain or trigger points are still there.
I have not had any side effects either that I know of.
Hope it helps,

Hi Leila006,
My fiance had been diagnosed early this year with fibromyalgia, starting off with her hips burning at night in her sleep.
She attended an appointment with a rheumatologist who prescribed her with Savella, worked well but suffered Sweating badly.
She has decreased the madication of Savella and now on a tablet called Lyrica.
her sweating symtoms have almost gone.
Lyrica has a side affect of heavy Drowsiness, the first week may be the worse as your body is not use to the change after the symptoms ease off.
She has been prescribed to take 1 tablet 3 times daily but can only manage 2 maximum.
Mean while all medication has side affects but not everyone suffers with the same kind, all i can suggest is give it a try you get on with the drug Good Luck, if you have too many side affects move on to something different.
What works for one person may not work for another.
hope this helps
